The following workstation setup is required for all workstations: - In RSLinx Classic software, configure an EtherNet/IP driver. - Set up an Ethernet/IP network and assign IP addresses to the computers and EtherNet/IP modules. - Verify the ControlLogix workstations match the standard hardware layout found in the Workstation Layout section of this document. If you are using a non-standard workstation configuration, you will have to modify the I/O configurations for each Student Exercise file to match your hardware layout.

Once you have verified that communications between the computers and ControlLogix workstations have been established, delete all previously created RSLinx Classic drivers.

Software Workstation Setup If you are familiar with ghosting, you may want to create a simulator image for future classes once you have a completed and tested setup.

5

Setup and testing takes approximately 20 minutes per machine. This does not include re-imaging. Perform the following steps on each workstation: - If any traces of SoftLogix remain on the computer, or if you are unsure, re-image the computer. A typical uninstall will not remove all traces of SoftLogix which will cause errors. - Verify that you have the following software installed and activated: - RSLinx Classic software, version 3.51 - RSLinx Enterprise software, version 5.50 or later - RSLogix Emulate 5000 software, version 21.0 - FactoryTalk View ME Studio software, version 6.10 - FactoryTalk View ME Station software, version 6.10 - Studio 5000 Logix Designer software, version 21 (with activation for Structured Text and Sequential Function Charts) - Launch RSLinx Classic software and then add a new Virtual Backplane driver in slot 0 (default). Close the software. - Launch RSLogix Emulate 5000 Chassis Monitor software and create a controller in slot 3.

Tip "

Do not create modules in any other slots. RSLinx will occupy slots 0 and 1 when launched. - Open RSLinx Classic software and click RSWho to verify that the network shows an active virtual chassis with your configured modules.

Required Training Simulator Testing Test the setup using the files in the Training Simulator Files folder: - In the Logix Designer application, download the Training _Simulator_Test_Logic_Rev_A.acd file to the controller in the virtual chassis (slot 3). - Change the controller to Rem Run mode. - Double-click the CCP152_CCP154_Training_Simulator.apa file. - At the prompt, select Restore the FactoryTalk View Machine Edition application: and click Next - Keep the default name. - You will NOT receive confirmation when it is done. - Open FactoryTalk View Studio software and then select CCP152_CCP154_Training_Simulator. - In the Explorer Pane, expand RSLinx Enterprise and then double-click Communication Setup. - Create a short cut to the virtual controller in slot 3: Rev. Changing Labels Each exercise indicates which set of device labels to select: - To change the device labels click the Goto Device Label Selector button on the bottom of the Main Device page:

- Select your application and then click the Goto Simulator button to return. - A default set of labels that can be used with any exercise is provided.

Stopping and Restarting the Simulator Do not shut down the FactoryTalk View ME Station screen or the RSLogix Emulate 5000 Chassis monitor between exercises: - If you must shut down at the end of class, please do so in this order:

- Click the Shutdown Simulator button in FactoryTalk View

Tip "

ME Station. - Go offline with the controller and then close the RSLogix Emulate 5000 Chassis monitor. If the RSLogix Emulate 5000 Chassis monitor gives an error message, open the task manager ([Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Delete]) and close the RSLogix Emulate 5000 Chassis monitor. - To restart the software simulator, use the steps in the testing section of this document.

Enhancing Use The following tips may enhance your instructor setup and student experience: Instructor Setup: - Consider obtaining extra thumb drives with the ghosted images to expedite the setup Student Experience: - Minimize the RSLogix Emulate 5000 Chassis monitor for the students. - Consider one computer per person instead of sharing. - Consider an optional second computer monitor to separate the software simulator screen from the Logix Designer application.
