Change Your Beliefs, Change Your Life with the Miracle of EFT! It’s well known that our negative beliefs can have a huge impact on our lives. This is because they can become self-fulfilling prophesies and/or can hold us back in major ways. For instance, if you have a deep belief that you are not worthy of success, this will cause you to feel insecure or inadequate in that area. You will then either hold yourself back from even trying to succeed or end up trying in an ineffectual way that doesn’t turn out well. You may try half-heartedly or subconsciously sabotage yourself in some way. A real life example: I used to have an iron clad belief that a woman that I found really fascinating couldn’t possibly be interested in me. This limiting belief initially caused me to stay far away from women that I was really interested in, so you can see how totally self-defeating that was. Later (before I learned EFT) I tried to push through that belief and talk to interesting women anyway. My limiting belief then made me a tongue-tired, awkward mess. You can see how this one belief was completely sabotaging my love life!

EFT to the Rescue - A Powerful Tool to Quickly Change Limiting Beliefs! Not everyone knows that EFT can be used to release these negative beliefs in a fast and really amazing way. There are two approaches to using EFT to change limiting beliefs depending on the type of limiting belief. You see, limiting beliefs can be either “loosely held” or “deeply held” in our psyche. Loosely held limiting beliefs can be changed quickly and easily using a very simple technique with EFT. Deeply help limiting beliefs use a little more elaborate approach with EFT. How can you tell if a limiting belief is loosely or deeply held in your psyche? I’ll talk about that later in this ebook. First, I’ll talk about the simple way to use EFT with loosely held limiting beliefs.

How to Use EFT to Change “Loosely Held” Limiting Beliefs Loosely held limiting beliefs can literally be changed in minutes using EFT! The approach is very simple. You just use the limiting belief statement itself as the "Reminder Phrase" in the EFT Basic Recipe. For instance, let's say that you have the following negative belief: "men only want sex." The first step is to assess on a 0 to 10 scale how true the belief feels in your “gut” where 0 is completely false and 10 is completely true. Don’t worry about what your mind thinks or knows to be true. It’s essential that you go with your gut feeling. Oftentimes, your mind will know that a negative belief is not true, but it still feels true in your gut (ie. your subconscious), and, unfortunately, your gut rules. So, it’s very important to measure and heal your gut feeling of belief. The set-up affirmation will now be: "Even though men only want sex, I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself." You then repeat the belief, "men only want sex," at each tapping point. It may seem strange to keep repeating this negative statement, but remember that EFT is about clearing energy disturbances. Repeating the negative belief statement keeps the energy disturbance activated so that it can be cleared through tapping. In this case, clearing the energy disturbance causes the belief to feel less and less true. After two rounds of tapping, check to see how true the belief feels in your gut now. If the belief started out feeling true at a level 9, it may only feel true to a level 7 now. If this worked for you, just keep doing tapping rounds on the negative belief until it goes down to a level 0 and no longer feels true at all. This may seem strange and overly simplistic, but when a belief is loosely held, this is all it takes to release that negative belief in your life! A real life example: I did this exact tapping with a client, and after a few rounds of tapping, she started thinking of all of these counter examples of men she knew who didn’t only want sex. By 2

the end of 8 minutes of tapping, her belief had changed to “some men only want sex and the rest are interested in a meaningful relationship.” She felt very encouraged and felt a clarity around discerning which type of man she was dealing with. Imagine how your life would change when negative beliefs are no longer holding you back after neutralizing them with EFT in this simple way! However, if simply tapping on the negative belief statement itself doesn't work for a particular belief, and it may not, this means that the belief is deeply held in your psyche. In this case, there is a second, more in-depth approach that will definitely work. We will learn about that approach next.

How to Use EFT to Change “Deeply Held” Limiting Beliefs In the last section we talked about a very simple way of changing negative beliefs using EFT. You just tapped on the negative belief statement itself until it no longer felt true. Deeply held limit beliefs, however, need a deeper approach than just tapping on the belief statement. In order to understand how to apply this more powerful method, you first need to understand how negative beliefs are formed in our psyche.

How are negative beliefs formed? Loosely held negative beliefs tend to be formed based on things we hear in our family and society at large. These beliefs may not have a lot of emotional pain associated with them. Instead, they are beliefs that we don’t think much about and, therefore, don’t challenge in our psyche. This is why the simple approach can work quickly and easily in these cases. Deeply held negative beliefs, on the other hand, are formed through painful experiences growing up, usually with our parents or care givers, but they can be the outcome of any painful experiences we have in childhood. Deeply held negative beliefs are the conclusions we form as a result of those painful experiences. A real life example: One of my clients who we’ll call, “Linda,” had an intimidating and critical father growing up. Each time she did something that he didn’t like, he would yell at her, “what, are you stupid?!” and then proceed to angrily berate her for a long time. Even though she was very intelligent and did well in school, she developed this belief that she was stupid from all of the painful experiences of being yelled at. As an adult, this belief that she was stupid caused her to feel less than other people and not pursue her career dreams.

A Powerful EFT Approach for Changing Deeply Held Beliefs The more advanced approach for using EFT to release a negative belief is to heal the original painful experiences that formed the belief and also later painful experiences that reinforced the belief. Once those experiences have been healed, the negative belief will either already feel false, or it will now change easily by tapping on the belief statement like in the simple approach. For example, let's look and Linda’s belief that she was stupid. She got this from many painful experiences of her father treating her as if she was stupid. Since there were many painful memories that led to her belief, I started by asking her to remember the earliest time this happened. This is part of my “first and worst” strategy for picking the best memories to heal. Once she got in touch with that memory, we tapped on all of the feelings that came up until all the pain was gone. I then asked her to think of two or three of the worst examples of that painful experience she could remember that happened while she was still in childhood, and then we healed them as well. These were her worst experiences that reinforced the negative belief. The good news is that it usually only takes healing 2 to 4 memories to release a deeply held belief! This is a powerful approach that will allow you to change any negative belief in your life. What a profound difference this can make!

How Do I Know If a Belief Is Loosely Held or Deeply Held? Deeply held negative beliefs usually feel heavy. They tend to have strong feelings associated with them. However, you don’t really need to worry about whether or not a belief is deeply held. Instead, the simple thing to do is to try the basic technique of tapping on the belief statement itself and see if that works. If it works, then the belief was loosely held and you’re done in 5 to 10 minutes of tapping!

If the simple approach doesn’t work or only works a little bit, then the belief is deeply held and you need to use the more in-depth method of healing the memories that caused that belief.

How Do I Know What Beliefs to Release? Sometimes, you start out with a belief that you already know is causing you trouble and holding you back from something that you want. However, oftentimes it’s the other way around. There is something that you want for yourself, love or success in some part of your life, and you are aware that something is holding you back or getting in the way, but you don’t know what it is. The thing to understand is that the only things that hold us back from what we want are our fears and negative beliefs. And, most of our fears come from our subconscious negative beliefs, so really it’s all about our beliefs!

The Procedure to Get In Touch with and Heal Your Limiting Beliefs You can get in touch with the limiting beliefs that are holding you back from your goal by using the following procedure: 1. Vividly imagine having or doing the thing that you want. For instance, imagine being faced with the love of your life, or imagine doing the new job that you want. 2. Now notice what you are feeling and thinking. You may have some positive feelings, but if you have been having a hard time achieving your goal, you will likely have negative feelings as well. Notice the negative thoughts and feelings that come up as you imagine having or doing your goal. For example, you might have a sad, sinking feeling that goes with the thought, “I’m not good enough.” 3. The negative thoughts that come up when you imagine your goal are the beliefs that you need to clear in order to achieve your goal!

Your Healing Procedure 1. Write down all of your negative beliefs that came up as you imagined your goal. 2. Rate how true each negative belief feels in your gut from 0 to 10 and then reorder them with the strongest ones at the top of your list. 3. Heal and release the strongest negative beliefs first. Any negative belief that feels true at a 7 or higher will block you from getting what you want. Keep going until there are no highly true feeling beliefs left.
