Read the given passage or paragraph over and again till you understand the theme of the passage. Read questions carefully and then underline those portions of the given passage which, in your opinion form the most suitable answers. Take the first question and grasp the answer thoroughly and write it out in your own word . Put your answers in simple, brief and grammatically correct language. Write the answers as per the given sequence and each answer should be numbered and its number should correspond to that of the question. The answer should be in the same tense in which the question has been put. Find the title of the passage from the main theme. It should not be in the form of a sentence. It should either be a word or a phrase or a proverb. Write all the important words of the title or heading in the capital letters. Finally read the questions one by one and compare them with your answers to see whether they are in conformity with the spirit and requirement of the questions.

Reading for Learning: If reading is to be done for learning, it is necessary that reading be conducted as an enquiry. Reading for Literary experience: It involves reading novels, short stories, poems etc. Reading for Information: It involves reading articles in magazines and newspapers, specific chapters in text books. Reading to perform a task: It involves reading documents such as bus or train schedules, directions for games, tax or insurance forms, maps, consumer warranties, etc.

Vision control: It has been found that in 5 minutes reading, the eye make about 1000 separated movements. The amount of energy spent in 5 minutes of reading equals to about one hour’s distant seeing. Such research findings hint at the requirement of rest that the eyes need during the reading process. Pace or Tenor of Reading: An efficient reader keeps a record of time consumed for reading a text. Hence an efficient reader grades the text and gradually practices from less difficult text to more difficult text. Vocabulary: Faster reading also depends upon a reader stock of vocabulary.
