Electrical checklist points General points MACHINE GUARDING 1. Is there any moving machinery at site? 2. Is there proper machine guarding available for the machine? 3. Is the machine guarding tough enough and properly fixed? LOCKOUT MECHANISM 1. Is there proper lockout mechanism for every electrical appliances? 2. Do all the PDBs have proper lockout mechanism? 3. Do all the outgoing supply lines have lockout system? FIRE FIGHTING DEVICES 1. Are there proper fire fighting devices in the site? 2. Is the access to the fire safety device unobstructed? 3. Is there atleast one CO2 or dry powder type extinguisher in the site? 4. Are the sand buckets(with adequate sand) provided? 5. Are the people working at site, properly trained on how to use the fire extinguishers? POWER DISTRIBUTION BOARD 1. Are the PDBs regularly inspected? 2. Is there any chances of inflow of water or gas in PDBs? 3. Is the access to PDB unobstructed? 4. Is there proper fencing and rubber mat provided? 5. Are incoming and outgoing voltage clearly marked in panel boards 6. Are the incoming and outgoing lines identified? 7.All the outgoing supply lines have proper lockout mechanism? 8. Is there any flammable or unwanted material within 5 metres of PDB? 9. Is there double earthing provided in every PDB? 10. Are the outgoing lines of the PDBs over heated? EARTHING 1. Are the earth pits maintained? 2. Are there double earthing provided(two separate and distinct connections with earth)? 3. Is the earth resistance measured periodically and record maintained? 4. Are the earth pits constructed according to standard( with required amount of charcoal,salt) ? 5. Are the appliances provided earthing with GI wire? 6. Earth leakage protection dvices shall control all supply of energy other than low voltage installation below 5 KW 7. Earthing lead of any lightning conductor shall not pass through any iron or steel pipe SWITCHES AND SOCKETS 1. Is there insertion of loose wires into the sockets? 2. Is there a clear space(not less than 1 metre) provided in front of every switch board? 3. Are the grounding prongs removed from 3-way plugs? 4. Are the electrical outlets overloaded with appliances? 5. ELCBs, RCCBs of 30 mA only are used? 6. More than one cable inserted into a single plug top? 7. Are the switches properly covered ? SIGNAGES 1.Are there proper 'DANGER' signs with voltage displayed wherever required? 2. Are shock treatment chart(in local languages) displayed? 3. Are there emergency contact numbers displayed? PPEs 1. There should be 2 or more gas masks provided in a conspicuous location in every generating station with capacity of 5 MW or above 2. People involved in welding or gas cutting jobs must use the standard PPEs required for that job CABLES 1. Flexible cables shall not be used for portable or transportable motors, drills,welding sets etc. unless they are heavily insulated 2. Cables shall be 3C and 4C type for portable apparatus working on 1phase and 3phase suppy respectively 3. There should be no damage in cables 4. There should be proper insulation at joints 5. Cables should be periodically checked if they are getting over heated 6. Extensive care of joints shall be taken care in case of overhead lines

Electrical checklist points LIGHTING 1. General illumination over those interior parts of a factory where persons are employed, shall not be less than 65 lux measured in the horizontal place at a level of 90 cms above the floor. 2. No portable electric light or any other electric appliances of voltage 24 V shall be permitted within any chamber or confined space TOOLs 1. Are the electrical tools properly insulated? 2. Are the electrical tools properly maintained and stored?

Individual equipments BATCHING PLANT 1. Check the electrical part of the wiring is correct and firm 2. The electric box enclosed is solid ground 3. Batching plant control device must be rain,sun and dust proof 4. During harsh climatic conditions (storm/thunder), shut off the power, remove the connection between the sensor and the batching control instrument to prevent controller damage 5. Power supply voltage fluctuations must be less than 5% 6. Proper earthing of the Batching Plant CONCRETE PUMP 1. Proper inspection of the pump everytime before use 2. Proper grouting of the compressor pump 3. Proper earthing of the pump must be ensured TOWER CRANE 1. Do not store unnecessary quantities of combustibles on the machine desk 2. Extensive care must be taken to prevent contact of any metal part(hoist line or boom) ofbe crane with a 1high voltage 3. There should minimum person at allpower timesline for overall supervision to prevent power line contact

4. When using crane and/or equipment near energized power lines of 50 KV or more,make sure the minimum distance between the lines and any part of the crane is 10 feet plus 4 inches for each 10 KV over 50 KV SOIL COMPACTOR 1. Follow manufacturer's maintainance schedules and inspect the equipment before every use WINCH MACHINE 1. Proper isolation and lockout mechanism of each machine 2. Proper guarding of the moving part of the machine must be ensured 1. Check the mechanical transmission parts,electrical parts and connecting parts are normal and reliable

HOISTS

2. Check the rated load in the name plate of the hoist,don’t allow loading more than the rated load 3. Maintenance should be done at no load and cut off the power before maintenance WATER PUMP 1. Proper grouting of the water pump must be ensured 2. Check if its gwetting over heated due to continuous operation 3. Pump should be dust sheilded 4. Pump should be in well ventilated condition 5. Moisture must be prevented BAR BENDING MACHINE 1. Bar bending machine should have proper machine guarding for moving parts 2. It should have proper safety cover 3. Bar bending machine must have a rigid design
