Presenter KEN AULD

Vertical Sump Pumps, CPXV or ECPJ

Vertical Sump Pumps, CPXV or ECPJ Common Pump Description

• Industrial & Chemical Sump Pump • API 610, VS4/5 • Single stage suspended • Radially split Sump Pump

Common Typical

Applications • Chemical industries • Petrochemical industries • Refinery offsites

Common General description

The CPXV and ECPJ pump lines are based on there own modular system, providing maximum design flexibility. With this system, each pump can be custom engineered for individual applications lengths and atmospheres.

Brief Histories

CPXV

ECPJ

• Developed using • Developed using hydraulics from CPX, MK3 & hydraulics from ERPN D-Line • Manufactured in Brunn • Manufactured in Newark since 1970 since 1990 • Worldwide population of • Worldwide population of approx 1200 pumps approx 2000 pumps • Current rate of production: • Current rate of production: 100 per year 260 per year and growing!!

Basic designs Standard (CPXV & ECPJ) - for handling products in chemical or petrochemical industries, refinery offsite

Steam heated

(CPXV & ECPJ) - for handling liquid sulphur.

Cantilever type

(ECPJ Only) - for all applications where no external lubrication or flushing is allowed e.g. hot and dirty liquids, molten salts, liquids with tendency to crystallize or became viscous.

Casings shall use studs and 12mm min…

Casing Fastners are not all studs and on 125 & 160 sizes 10mm are used

Spiral Wound of 'O'Ring gaskets shall be provided

Confined gasket provided to submerged casing but not of this type

Nozzle openings for pressure connections shall not include DN32, 65, 90, 125, 175, 225

DN32, 65 & 125 are used at the casing and DN125 size

At least 0.5 NPS size connections…

0.25 NPS used on other than main suction and discharge nozzle bores.

5.4.2.5

Flanges are back machined

Not provided

5.3.3, 5.5

Twice Table 4 Nozzle Loads…

Cannot be met on the casing, but available on soleplate discharge.

5.3.10

5.4.1.1

5.4.1.2

5.7.1

Impeller pumping vanes ...shall not be used to balance the thrust

Closed impellers use front and back wear rings to balance the thrust, however if semi open impellers are specified, these will use back vanes

5.8.1

Mechanical seals and sealing system in accordance with ISO 21049 (= API Standard 682)

Standard Cartridge seals meet par. 5.8.2 to 5.8.11. Seals and sealing systems in compliance with API 682 can be supplied at extra price.

5.10.2.2

The bearing...housings shall be equipped with constant level sight feed oilers ...

Oil circulation is ensured by the pumping – effect of the angular contact ball bearings .

8.3.3.2

Shafts total runout along length shall be < 0.04mm/m, 0.08mm maximum

8.3.3.3

The pump shaft shall be one piece, unless otherwise approved by purchaser.

0.13mm maximum offered Above certain pump length, a multiple shaft arrangement is used for ease of maintenance.

span limit of 1700mm, above this separate shafts are provided to ease shipping.
