DESCRIPTION: 7-St. Athanaseus: HADES AND PERSEPHONE 



HADES – The Greek god of the Underworld. There he ruled with his queen Persephone. Hades was a son of Titans Cronus and Rhea, and the brother of the deities Zeus, Poseidon, Demeter, Hera and Hestia. PERSEPHONE – The daughter of Demeter and Zeus, was the wife of Hades and the Queen of the Underworld. The myth of her abduction by Hades was used to explain the cycle of the seasons.

7-St. Benedict: IRIS AND ZEPHYRUS 



ZEPHYRUS – In Greek mythology, Zephyrus was described as one of the Anemoi, the winged-god of west. He is the gentlest of the wind and the messenger of spring. Zephyrus was the son of Astraeus, the of stars and planets, and Eos, the goddess of dawn. He was also described as the husband of Iris. IRIS – The goddess Iris personified the rainbow in the mythology of the ancient Greece. She is also considered as the female counterpart of Hermes because she served as a messenger from Mount Olympus.

8-St. Nicholas: ZEUS AND HERA 



ZEUS – Zeus was the king of the Greek gods who lived on Mount Olympus. He was the god of sky and thunder. Zeus was the most powerful and his famous power is the ability to throw lightning bolts. He was married to his sister goddess Hera. HERA – Hera is the Queen of the Gods and the sister-wife of Zeus. She is known for being the Goddess of Marriage and Birth. Despite being the goddess of marriage, she was known to be jealous and vengeful towards many lovers and offspring of her husband Zeus.

8-St. Bernard: PASITHEA AND HYPNOS 



HYPNOS – was a primordial deity in Greek mythology, the personification of sleep. He is the son of Nyx(night) and Erebus(darkness). His wife Pasithea was given to him by Hera. They had a number of sons called Oneiroi (the dreams). PASITHEA – Pasithea was one of the younger Graces and the wife of Hypnos, god of sleep. She is the goddess of rest and relaxation.

9-Pedro Calungsod: EROS AND PSYCHE 



EROS – also known as cupid to the Romans. He is the son of Aphrodite and the Greek god of love and passion. He is commonly represented with a bow and unlimited number of arrows. Eros once scraped himself with an arrow and fell in love with Psyche, who became his wife. PSYCHE- Psyche is the goddess of soul and was once a mortal princess whose extraordinary beauty angered Aphrodite. But soon became the wife of Eros.

9-St. Gregory: APOLLO AND ARTEMIS 



APOLLO – Greek god of music, poetry, light, prophecy, and medicine. HE is one of the Twelve Olympian gods who live in the mount Olympus. Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting, is his twin sister. He is a patron god of the city of Delphi. ARTEMIS –Goddess of wild animals and hunting. She is the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister of Apollo.

9-St. Hildegard: NIKE AND PAN  

PAN- The god of wild groves, shepherds and flocks. Pan is a child whose goat’s feet and horned head delighted gods but startled mortals. He was the one who created the first set of panpipes. NIKE- the goddess of victory in Greek mythology and her alternative name is “Winged Goddess”. She is the daughter of Titan Pallas and goddess Styx. Her three sisters are Kratos (power), Bia (Force) and Zelus(Seal). She had a role as the divine charioteer, flying above battlefields and giving glory to the victors.

10-St. John: APHRODITE AND HEPHAESTUS 



HEPHAESTUS- The Greek go of Fire, metalworking, stone masonry, forges and the art of sculpture. He is the son of Zeus and Hera and married to Aphrodite by Zeus to prevent the gods fighting for her hand. He is a smithing god, making all the weapons of Olympus. APHRODITE- The Greek goddess of love and beauty. She is widely worshipped as a goddess. Her children were Harmonia, the warrior twins Phobos and Deimos, and Eros , the god of love.

10-St. Augustine: HELIOS AND SELENE  

HELIOS – The sun god and sometimes called a Titan. He drove a chariot daily to from east to west across the sky and sailed the northerly stream of Ocean each night in a huge cup. SELENE- A Titan goddess of the moon, daughter of Titans Hyperion and Theia. She has two siblings, Helios and Eos.

G11 – St. John Paul II: EOS AND ARES  

ARES - God of war, one of the twelve Olympian gods and the son of Zeus and Hera. He represents the unpleasant aspects of battle. EOS- The goddess of the dawn, the daughter Titans Hyperion and Theia. She has two siblings, Helios (sun) and Selene (moon). She was married to Astraeus, god of dusk and together, they had numerous children that represented everything that occurred during the union of dusk and dawn. She became a consort of Ares.

12-St. Teresa: POSEIDON AND DEMETER 



POSEIDON- God of Sea, earthquakes, storms and horses. He is considered as one of the most bad-tempered gods and the vengeful one. He is the son of Cronus and Rhea and the sibling of Zeus, Hades, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera. DEMETER- The goddess of Agriculture and the daughter of the deity Cronus and Rhea. She is the consort of Zeus and mother of Persephone.
