How to make a schematic diagram of the disease process? First week activity 1. Identify the cause of the illness A. Determine the etiologic factor or actual cause of the illness (Refer to Ecologic model contents) a. Microorganism (example virus for NCOV19) b. Physical like heat, excessive cold c. Psychological – death of a loved one or an immediate family member b. Determine the predisposing factors (refer to ecologic model) a. Age – some disease conditions are prevalent basing on age ( Cholecystitis is prevalent in F”s – forty, female, fat , fair and fertile) b. Sex – diseases the only occurs in women or men (example H-mole in women and Prostatic Hypertrophy in Men) c. Genetics d. Geographical location (address) e. Low immune response – due to anemia, pre-existing disease conditions f. Stress g. Other reason why the person can immediately be affected or infected by the illness. 2. Predisposing factors (present in your client) should be placed on the left side of the diagram with arrows directed to the causative factor then the disease at the center . 3. Submit your schematic diagram with a simple explanation why your client has the disease in paragraph form below the diagram. 2nd week (use knowledge on anatomy and physiology and book references how disease occurs in the body. 1, Trace first the physiologic response of the body in cases of invasion or alteration of body substance (compensating events by body systems like thirst sensation, fever, inflammation these are compensatory responses) 2. Trace the pathophysiologic responses if the compensatory responses failed like dehydration symptoms loss of weight, sunken eyeballs, dry mucous membranes, dry scaly skin and so on. ) 3. Simple explanation of your second diagram.

3rd week 1. Make 3 nursing diagnosis 2. Out of the signs and symptoms formulate your nursing diagnosis ex. Alteration in body temperature fever or Hyperthermia as manifested by__________by signs and symptoms. Have your CI comments on your work if it is done correctly!!!
