Direct control : it is exerted by family ,village elders ,religious leader . 2.Indirect control : exerted by secondary group like folkways, mores, instutions

Formal : folkways,mores,fashion,customs,religion

INFORMAL MEANS 1. FOLKWAYS : Acc to Horton and Hunt folkways are simply the customary normal,habitual ways a group does things. Characterstics : -arise out of the efforts to satisfy needs. -they are popular habits and traditions . -the punish ment for not following the folkways is mainly social disapproval,in the form of snubbing or gossip . -considers as matters of good tastes and behaviour in the society .
