Here is a fairly detailed synth to make Acetone Peroxide (AP). Note this is a high explosive and should NOT be made by any inexperienced people.

Materials • • •

30% Hydrochloric acid 3% or 6% H2o2 peroxide Acetone

Equipment • • • • • •

60ml syringe Two 30ml syringes Two glass jars Fridge Thermometer Coffee filters

First put the H2o2, acetone and a glass jar in the freezer for an hour or so to bring the temp down to around 0 degrees Celsius. Measure out 25ml of acetone using a 30ml syringe and put it in the chilled jar. Then add 75ml of 6% H2o2 or 150ml of 3% using the 60ml syringe (adjust according to purity) then put it back in the freezer for 15-20 minutes. Next measure out 20ml of 30%HCl in the other 30ml syringe and add it SLOWLY! and swish it around a little then put it in the fridge overnight or some where just below 10 degrees is better. After 12-18 hours there will be little white crystals on the bottom, these are AP so be careful! Take a coffee filter and put it over the second jar, next pour all the liquid and AP into the filter and let it drain through leaving a whitish paste on the filter.

Take the filter away from the jar and leave it to sit on some newspaper in the air to dry out for a while. When it's dry it will look like a white powder.

Notes Try to keep it as cool as possible while doing the synth... Don't rush it! This is a high explosive and should be treated with respect! It's heat and friction sensitive and cannot be stored safely for more than a week even when it's stored under water. When it's dry it's ready for use.

Acetone Peroxide Acetone Peroxide is a Primary High Explosive. It is susceptible to heat, friction, and shock. However the instability is greatly altered by impurities. It is normally fairly stable when pure. It is not easily soluble in water. It is more stable and less sensitive when wet and is there fore usually stored wet, in water. Shock Senstitive Friction Sensitive Explosive Velocity

Very High/Moderate When Wet Very High/Moderate When Wet Up to 5300 m/s
