ISILK TO EGG ~ I' ve always loved the SIlk to Egg. Peeling the hole off the ' fake ' egg is one of the rea lly great moments in magic, but for th is moment to be really astonishrng, the audience has got to BELIEVE, beyond any doubt , that the egg is fake. l1le following routme was structured to 1101 only show the egg as fake, hUI to continually

re inforce that impression until the moment the hole 15 pee led from the egg and placed Onto your forehead. After brea king the egg. you then pull the sca rf back out of the hole on your forehead' Th is funny visual takes any fXllential edge o ff of the lradiliooal sucker-type of ending.

This routine uses two 18 mc b SIlks. a round sticker whose color matches the silks. a hcllow plastic egl! with a hole cut

111

it. and a

real egg similar in S17.e to the fake. Years ago, the real egg accidentally broke in my coat pock et during on ear lier routine. Want. ing to design something that wo uld protect the egg, I also wonted to position it ill rne perfect spot for me to steal n during performance. I drew up my id ea for Ram on Ga lindo, Austin's Godfother of magic, ask. iug if he CQu id pos~i bl y mak e it for me. At lhe next meeting. he arrived with a beautiful, elegant so lution . a modi fied pill boule! Pho ec 1. Just cut the bottom off. some of the lop , a portion from the m iddle, and tum It upside down, Slowly carve the center gap o f the bottle until the sides ge ntly hug lhe e!:8 til place. yet give you room to easi ly remove the egg wnen neces sary, Thi s holder goes ill the upper. front corner of the coat pocket. with the origi nal mo uth of tlte boule poiuling down. [ha ve used various methods for anacbieg the boule I() the: pocket - double stick tape , Velcro , and cur-

tbe bott le, with a snap on the top . This way I can easily remove the hold er when I want. But more Important, this holder allows me to stea l the egg without having to place my hand mte my pocket. re ntly a flap of c loth which is sewn down

Oil

The round sticker, whose color matches the silks being used, must be the same

size as the hole on you r fake egg. Place this sticker onto the real egg, which goes into the holder. Place both silks in the right coat pocket, in such a way that they COlt be renH)\'ed one at a time, The fake egg goes into the left coa t pocket.
