SCOPE OF WORK Purpose of the present FMI is to provide description & instruction for MS5002C conversion to MS5002D Power Crystal and relative auxiliary system upgrade activities. The scope of supply includes also the new pulse jet filter house for the ventilation system, the new starting system and the upgrade of the control room. GENERAL

2.1.

Requirements and Limitations to be Respected  Availability of local workshop for modification activities.  Availability of spaces on the materials warehouses for recovery all new parts for modification and for recovery the old components removed from the train.  Availability of lifting and transfer of the necessary materials.  Availability of man power and supervisor following the required number and skill of the job activities plan.  Detailed engineering and final test procedures.  All items that interfere with lifting and positioning operations are removed.

2.2.

Safety Instruction

WARNING REMOVE AND TAG OUT ELECTRICAL POWER FROM ALL SYSTEM/CIRCUITS UPON WHICH WORK IS PERFORMED. PROVIDE ALTERNATIVE FIRE PROTECTION MEANS WHEN THE UNIT FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM HAS BEEN DISABLED. IN GENERAL, OPERATORS MUST UTILIZE THE PERSONNEL PROTECTION DEVICES SUITABLE FOR THE DANGERS PRESENT IN THE ZONE TO WHICH THEY ACCEDE AND CARRY OUT ALL OPERATIONS. THE OPERATOR CLOTHING MUST BE ADEQUATE TO THE HAZARD PRESENT IN THE MACHINERY AREA. PURGE THE TURBINE OF POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS VAPOUR. USE EXTREME CARE TO ISOLATE AND VENT GAS. BEFORE WORKING ON THE GAS TURBINE OR ON THE LINES FOR MODIFICATION, PUT THE MACHINE AND ITS AUXILIARIES IN SAFE CONDITIONS BY ISOLATING THEM FROM ANY SOURCE OF EXTERNAL INCOMING (ELECTRICAL, LIQUID FUEL, GAS AND OTHER DANGEROUS FEEDS). ADEQUATE PRECAUTIONS SHALL BE TAKEN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO EXTERNAL PIPING AND ELECTRICAL LEADS DURING HANDLING OF WEIGHTLIFTING. DO NOT CLIMB OR STEP ONTO ANY PARTS OF TURBINE OR ITS PIPING.

Pre-conversion Checks Materials, documentation, tools and equipment necessary for the upgrade activities shall be checked before starting the operations for the FMI application at site.

2.3.1

Material Checks Packing materials list: check the components on each packing at site. Checks the availability of parts required (on site & last delivered) for FMI activities on site. Check the correct preservation / status of all materials at site suitable for the correct installation.

2.3.2

Documentation & Procedures Check all documents and drawing in order to verify the quality of the modifications and the correct release of revision. Bill of materials available for all components described in the Purchase Order Main Material List. Instruction Operation and Maintenance Manual available at site. Verification of the Safety requirements during all phases of the modification, special personal protection and hot & cold permit procedure requirements.

Common & Special Tools Check at site the available special tools and common tools.

Check at site the availability of the equipment, scaffoldings; container for stocking the materials and tools.

DESCRIPTION OF UP-GRADE ACTIVITIES The following chapters contain a list of actions to carry out during the assembly phase and a list of main materials (shown in the sketches) necessary to the modification, with suggested quantity needed in case of emergency as breaking or damaging of items during the works. The list below is only for strictly required materials to be used for the modification activities, and should be taken just as general recommendation. Please refer to the original GE bill of materials for the complete and fully inclusive items list.

3.1.

Preliminary Disassembly Activities

3.1.1.

Electrical cables, fire-fighting system and Instruments removal 1.

Disconnect the lighting inside the turbine and accessory compartment.

2. Disconnect the fire fighting system inside the turbine and accessory compartment. 3. Disconnect all conduits and any other fixtures, as JB or TB attached to the roof and side panels of the Gas Turbine and accessory compartment. 4. Coil up all free wires and hang them near the pull boxes taking care to provide the adequate protection. 5. Remove the section of conduits as needed to avoid any interference during the removal operations of the turbine and starting motor.

Ventilation Ducts Removal 1.

Disconnect the electrical cables from the fan motors.

2. Sling the two ventilation fan motors and operate the bridge crane in order to support them before their removal. Refer to figure 2 below. 3. Unscrew the bolts connecting between the fan motors and their supports. 4. One by one, lift the motors and put them in dedicated area. 5. Identify and mark the ventilation components location to be removed. Refer to figure 1 below. 6. One by one, sling the ducts sections to be removed and operate the bridge crane in order to support them before their removal. 7. Unscrew the bolts connecting the ventilation ducts to the enclosure roof. 8. Remove the ducts sections above the enclosure roof. 9. Remove the bolts connecting each duct section and the bolts at the base of relative supports. 10. Remove the ducts sections using the bridge crane; transport the ducts to dedicate area. Ladders, Walkways & Support Structures Removal 1.

Remove the ladder highlighted with green color in the figure 4 below. This is necessary in order to guarantee the free access to the lifting trucks inside the building. See figure 5 below.

Turbine and Accessory Compartment Removal 1.

Check and verify that the conduit of the lighting, fire fighting, gas detection systems and any other fixtures attached to the roof and side panels has been completely removed.

2. Identify and mark the location of compartments to be removed to facilitate their reassembling. 3. Prepare to lift the roof panels (turbine and accessory) using the relative eye bolts. Unbolt the roof from the side wall frames. 4. Remove all roof bolting. 5. Lift the roof panels of the turbine and accessory compartment. 6. Lay the panels down on the truck and transport them to the dedicated area. 7. Prepare to lift the turbine compartment panels (both side) using the relative eye bolts and unbolt them from their supports. 8. Lift the turbine panels and lay them down on the truck to transport them to dedicated area and lay them down on wooden blocks. 9. Remove all turbine compartment beams and transport them to dedicated area. 10. The points below have to be executed only if it will be used the dedicated equipment for starting system (see figure 6 below). 11. Prepare to lift the accessory compartment panels (front side) using the relative eye bolts and unbolt them from their supports. 12. Lift the accessory panels and lay them down on the truck to transport them to dedicated area and lay them down on wooden blocks. 13. Remove auxiliary compartment beams (roof and front side) and transport them to dedicated area.

MS5002C Module Removal Activities

3.2.1.

Load Coupling Guard Removal 1.

Remove the vertical joint bolts between the expansion joint and the spacer guard.

2. Remove the upper half vertical joint bolts between the spacer guard and the coupling guard gas turbine side. 3. Compress expansion joint and remove the spacer guard horizontal joint bolts. 4. Lift the upper half spacer guard. 5. Remove the lower half vertical connection bolts between the spacer guard and the coupling guard gas turbine side. 6. Remove the lower half spacer guard. 7. Remove the vertical joint bolts between the expansion joint and the coupling guard gear box side. 8. Slide the expansion joint in order to allow the disassembling of the coupling bolts and gently rest the expansion joint on the coupling shaft. 9. Sustain with temporary supports the coupling guard gas turbine side and remove the vertical joint bolts between the coupling guard and the gas turbine. 10. Remove the coupling guard horizontal joint bolts. 11. Lift the upper half coupling guard. 12. Remove the lower half coupling guard. 13. Sustain with temporary supports the coupling guard gear box side and remove the vertical joint bolts between the coupling guard and the gear box. 14. Remove the coupling guard horizontal joint bolts. 15. Lift the upper half coupling guard. 16. Remove the lower half coupling guard. 17. Clean all flanges surfaces and remove any residual anti-seize compound from the bolts.

3.2.2.

Load Coupling Removal 1.

Match mark the coupling flanges.

2. Sling the coupling to the lifting device using the appropriate rope (nylon or similar) and lift to support it. 3. Remove the bolts on the vertical flanges of the coupling and separate the flanges (refer to SOM6602853, pos.3) using appropriate jack bolts. 4. Separate diaphragm and spacer from the flanges using appropriate jack bolts. 5. Lift the coupling carefully in order to get it clear from the unit avoiding any damage to the flanges surfaces.

WARNING LOWER THE COUPLING ON WOODEN SUPPORT IN THE SAFETY AREA TAKING CARE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION. COUPLING MUST BE SUPPORTED ON THE SPACER SURFACE; IT MUST NOT BE SUPPORTED ON THE DIAPHRAGM SURFACE.

Sling the upper half of inlet plenum with the chain block using eyebolts inserted into lifting lugs of inlet plenum walls.

Lift the upper half inlet plenum until it is clear from suction casing flange, then move it out of the unit with crane. 6. Upper Half Exhaust Plenum Removal

WARNING CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN REMOVING INSULATION FROM THE COVERS DUE TO OF MINERAL WOOL CONTAINED INSIDE 1.

Loose and remove the locking screws between the exhaust plenum and the expansion joint.

2. Compress the expansion joint working on the tie bolts previously installed to free the exhaust plenum. 3. Unbolt the 2nd reduction duct upper flange (that one connected to the silencer). 4. Lower the 1st reduction duct, the 2nd reduction duct and the expansion joint assembled, operating on the four trolleys located on the 2nd reduction duct corners. 5. Utilizing two chain blocks and the dedicated lugs (located on the 2nd reduction duct) pull the duct away. 6. Remove partially the aluminum heat insulation from upper and lateral extensor of the exhaust plenum to get access to the joining bolts. 7. Remove the upper extensor by the overhead crane and transport to a dedicated area. 8. Remove the lateral extensor by the overhead crane and transport to dedicated area. Mark the heat shields plates and segments before disassembling. 9. Remove heat shields and segments from both sides of the plenum (HP side and PT side). 10. Remove the bolting from the upper half exhaust plenum and rig to lift the plenum. 11. Before lifting the plenum make sure that all instrumentation on the PT side has been removed. 12. Remove the upper half exhaust plenum lay down into the loading bay and transport to a dedicated area.

When the trucks are positioned inside the building proceed to sling appropriately the gas turbine and operate the crane trucks in order to support it before its removal. Refer to figure 11 below. 3. Installation of New Starting System 1.

Shift the group in order to consent the SSS clutch assembly.

2. Fit the half coupling on the driving shaft. 3. Fit the adaptor plate on the auxiliary gearbox. 4. Fit the clutch output sleeve on the auxiliary gearbox shaft. 5. Fit the helical sliding component together with pawl and ratchet mechanisms and clutch ring as an assembly on the output sleeve. 6. Fit the stop ring on the end face of the output sleeve. 7. Slide the helical sliding component. 8. Move electric motor in the position previously determined and secures it. 9. Gently put the clutch ring towards the input half coupling. 10. Align the bolts holes and bolt the two components together. 11. Check that the distance between the adjacent ends faces of the clutch driving and driven teeth is correct. 12. Align and fit the bottom half of the casing and gasket. 13. Fit the two oil seals. 14. Fit the proximity switch and seal lower half of the casing. Set the gap between the tip of the probe and the outside diameter of the swing ring.

4. Slowly move down the module in position and continue to operate with the cranes to sustain it. During this operation check the module alignment. 5. Prepare the bolts and eccentric dowel pins by coating them with anti-seize compound. 6. Install the dowels and bolts without tightening them and carry out the roughly module alignment referring to the base-plate centerline (see dwg SMO0421405). 7. Then lay down definitely the module on the base-plate (see dwg SMO0421405). 8. Remove the lifting equipment and proceed to move out from the building the trucks crane and the trailer platform. See fig. 9. 9. Install the bolts without tightening them (see dwg SMO0421405). 10. Tight the bolts of the GT legs at the required torque. Refer to ITN02163. 11. 2. Verify the mechanical stops of the IGV actuator. 3. Upper Half Inlet Plenum Assembly

WARNING FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS LISTED ON SOM44953 IN ORDER TO PRESERVE THE CLEAN CONDITION OF THE GAS TURBINE INLET SYSTEM COMPONENTS. 1.

Accurately check the internal cleanliness of the lower half (on the unit) and upper half inlet plenum (to be assembled), for the absence of any foreign objects.

2. Sling using the eyebolts inserted into lifting lugs of upper inlet plenum walls, lift it with chain block then move it on the unit 3. Lower the Upper Inlet Plenum on the Lower Half, then install all horizontal bolts on the split line and tight them. 4. Install and tighten all bolts on vertical flanges (front and rear of Inlet Air Compressor casing). 5. Install new gaskets on Upper and Vertical Inlet Plenum coupling flanges, assemble the Upper and Lateral Extensions then install and tighten all bolts.

3.4.12 Upper Half Exhaust Plenum Assembly

1.

Transport the exhaust plenum with the trailer from the storage to the unit area under the overhead crane.

2. Rig to lift the upper half exhaust plenum. 3. Clean the mating joints and install new fiberglass gaskets. 4. Coat all the bolts to be installed on the exhaust plenum with anti-seize compound before installing. 5. Lift the upper half plenum into position. Install the bolts and torque to proper tightness. Refer to ITN02163. 6. Install the flex heat shield plates to the forward and afterward positions between the exhaust plenum and exhaust frame. 7. Apply anti-seize compound to the bolting. 8. Install the retainers segment for flex plates. 9. Reinstall the exhaust thermocouples. 10. Reconnect wiring and make up conduit runs. 11. Reconnect the wiring to the over-speed trip on LP shaft, vibration detectors and magnetic pick-up speed sensors (HP & LP rotor). 6. Reconnect the wiring to the exhaust and trip thermocouples. 7. Reinstall the conduit sections previously removed and any other fixtures removed for GT module change.

Final Assembly Activities

3.5.1

Turbine and Accessory Compartment Assembly 1.

Check the scaffolding around the compartment in order to allow the safe and correct installation of the lateral panels of the enclosure.

2. Install turbine and accessory beams previously removed. 3. Lift the turbine lateral panels of the enclosure (both side) using the relative eyebolts then fasten them to their supports using their relative bolts. 4. Lift the accessory lateral panels of the enclosure (front side) using the relative eyebolts then fasten them to their supports using their relative bolts. 5. Lift the roof panels of the turbine and accessory enclosure using the relative eyebolts then fasten them to the side wall frames using their relative bolts. 6. Install the roof bolts. 7. Install the plates and bolts to join the turbine compartment and inlet plenum. Refer to SM 4593582. 8. Install the plates and bolts to join the accessory compartment and inlet plenum. Refer to SM 4593582. 9. Replace the enclosure gaskets whit new ones if damaged.

Electrical cables, Fire –Fighting system and Instruments Re-assembly 1.

Verify the presence of calibration certificate (where required) for the instruments.

2. Restore all supports on the baseplate, compartment and external instrument rack. 3. Install all instruments according to pneumatic hook-up. 4. Verify the correct slope according to P&ID or/and (where indicated) all pressure connections on the air/gas piping shall be sloped in the direction of process connection or seal pot. 5. Verify the seal of the connections with help of instrument air where possible. 6. Restore and connect all cables according to wiring and electrical hook-up. 7. Execute loop check for each instrument. 8. Make resining procedure on all seal fitting inserted. 9. Perform the plant ground system according to SMO9510106.
