SCOPE Design, manufacture, testing and supply of Lighting and Power Distribution Boards.

2.0

ELECTRIC SUPPLY SYSTEM 400 / 440 Volts, 3 Phase, 4 Wire, 50 Hz, Supply with neutral solidly grounded.

STANDARDS Lighting and power distribution boards shall be manufactured in accordance with the latest edition / amendment of Indian standard specification at the time of order, including amendments & in particular the following: IS 694

CONSTRUCTION

4.1

Lighting distribution board shall be metal enclosed, floor mounting, free standing, having Rear / front access and front of board operation, Indoor type, damp and dust protected for use in an enclosed switch-room. Minimum degree of protection shall be IP52 in accordance with IS 2147.

4.2

Distribution board cubicles shall be arranged to form a single structure with a common busbar assembly.

4.3

Distribution board structure including hinged doors shall be capable of withstanding the pressures created by faults within the structure without danger to operating personnel.

4.4

Barriers or partitions shall be provided between compartments to confine internal faults to the faulted compartment and to prevent the transfer of ionised gases between compartments. It shall be possible to maintain individual compartments whilst the remainder compartments are energised.

4.5

Incoming, bus section and outgoing feeder units shall be housed in separate cubicles/ compartments and be of the following type. a)

Circuit breaker.

b)

On load air break isolator.

c)

Off load air break isolator.

d)

Switch fuse unit.

4.6

Outgoing feeder units shall be arranged in tier formation.

5.0

EQUIPMENT / COMPONENTS

5.1

BUS BARS Electrolytic quality aluminium / copper busbars of adequate size for the current rating mentioned in specific requirements.

5.2

All switches shall be TPN, heavy duty, quick make and quick break type conforming to IS 13947 (Part 3).

5.3

Fuses shall be HRC link type as per IS 13703 (Part 1).

5.4

METERS Flush type Ammeters & Voltmeters shall be of Industrial grade with Class of accuracy CL 1, the size shall be 144 X 144 mm.

5.5

Current transformers shall be bar type primary with suitable VA rating for their connected burden, having stud type terminals with marking for secondary-wiring.

5.6

TERMINAL BLOCKS / CABLE ENTRY Terminal blocks for terminating power and control cables shall be segregated. Cable entry shall be from bottom. The location of cable entries shall be such that cable glands or cables shall not obstruct access for connections to terminal blocks. Undrilled gland plate at least 3mm thick shall be provided at bottom of board. Gland plate at bottom of board shall be removable from top without approach from bottom.

5.7

Minimum size of power and control wiring shall be 2.5 sq.mm. copper. Multi-stranded flexible copper wire shall be used for components mounted on doors. Wires shall be colour coded. Alternatively, PVC sleeves shall be used at both wire ends for identification. The board shall be complete with power and control wiring up to the terminal block.

EARTHING Earth bus shall be of minimum 32 x 6 mm size aluminium / copper. The earth bus shall run throughout the length of the Distribution board, for external connection of earth conductors.

7.0

NAMEPLATES AND LABELS Rear engraved perspex with white letters on black background shall be provided. The inscription on the nameplates shall be as per enclosed drawings/specific requirements. A separate transparent acrylic or equivalent caution nameplate 'LIVE TERMINALS' in red letters on white background shall be provided above the main incoming terminals to prevent accidental contact. Labels giving circuit designation (R1, Y4, B6 etc.) shall be provided for various components such as fuses, switches, and terminal blocks inside the panel.

8.0

PAINTING All metal surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned and degreased to remove mill scale, rust, grease and dirt. Fabricated structures shall be pickled and then rinsed to remove any trace of acid. The surface shall be prepared by applying a coat of phosphate paint and coat of yellow zinc chromate primer. The surface shall be made free from all imperfections before undertaking the finishing coat. After preparation of the surface, the switchboard shall be powder coated with two coats of epoxy based final paint. Colour shade of final paint shall be 632 as per IS: 5. The finished panels shall be dried in stoving ovens in dust free atmosphere. Panel finish shall be free from imperfections like pinholes, orange peels, runoff paint etc. All unpainted steel parts shall be cadmium plated or suitably treated to prevent rust formation. If these parts are moving elements then they shall be greased.

9.0

DRAWINGS AND TEST CERTIFICATES Copies of drawings and test certificates shall be furnished as per Vendor Document Requirements enclosed elsewhere.

10.0

TESTS AND INSPECTION

10.1

Minimum following tests shall be carried out during the inspection:

Insulation test with 500V megger.

b)

High Voltage Test.

c)

Continuity Test with extra low voltage (ELV) tester.

d)

Earth continuity test with extra low voltage (ELV) tester.

e)

Functional Test.

The purchaser reserves the right to inspect the Distribution Boards and witness the tests before despatch at Manufacturer's works.

11.0

SPARES The Bidder shall provide with his quotation, separate priced list of recommended operation and maintenance spares.

12.0

QUALITY ASSURANCE

12.1

Quality Assurance shall follow the requirements of Jacobs’ Q.A. documents, as applicable.

12.2

Q.A. involvement will commence at bid stage and follow through to completion and acceptance, thus ensuring total conformity to Purchasers requirements.

13.0

DEVIATIONS

13.1

Deviations from specification must be stated in writing at the bid stage.

13.2

In absence of such statement, it will be assumed that the requirements of the specification are met without exception.

14.0

PACKING & DISPATCH The switchboard shall be divided into several shipping sections for protection and ease of handling during transportation and also it should be moisture proof the equipment package shall be suitable for transportation by ship / rail or road. All out feeders shall be packed as separate shipping sections. The panel shall be covered in polythene sheets before being placed in crates to prevent damage to finish. Crates shall have skid bottom for handling. Special notations such as ‘This side up’, ‘Fragile’, ‘Center of gravity’, ‘Weight’ etc. shall be clearly marked on the package together with Tag nos., P.O. nos. etc. The equipment may be stored outdoors for long periods before installation. The packing should also be suitable for outdoor storage areas with heavy rains/ high ambient
