Dry and itching eyes Dizziness and vertigo Dry throat and mouth ,Slight burning pain in hypochondriac region Shivering four limbs Five palm heat, tidal fever, flushes Night sweating Tongue: red with little or no fur (or mirror coating) Pulse: wiry, thin, rapid ,Blurred vision, dry eyes, night blindness Pale nails Numbness of the limbs, muscle contractions, tendon and joint spasms Shivering, contractions or spasms of muscles Dizziness and vertigo Scanty menstrual flow, infertility in females Tongue: pale Pulse: thin and weak

Depression, stress, irritability, and anger Sighing and stuffiness in the chest Epigastric and abdominal distention and pain ,Distending or wandering pain in the costal and hypochondriac area Poor appetite Belching Irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, and distention of the breasts Tongue: thin white coating, could be purplish Pulse: wiry, especially on the left side Distending pain in head (aka, throbbing pain) Redness, swelling, and pain in the eyes Bitter taste and dryness in the mouth Burning pain in the costal and hypochondriac area Hematemesis and hemoptysis Anger and irritability Tongue: red with yellow coating Pulse: wiry and rapid Notes: liver fire can burn the liver yin causing liver yang rising

Cold Retention in the Liver Meridian
Severe dizziness and vertigo Headache Flushed face Red eyes Palpitations Frequent irritability, agitation Insomnia with dream disturbed sleep Soreness and weakness of the lower back and knees Tongue: scarlet to deep red, little coating Pulse: wiry, rapid Notes: 1) this condition can begin with a. liver yin rising b. kidney yin deficiency can come first, by 5 element theory, water then fails to feed the wood element 2) can also be caused by an Excess condition – sudden extreme anger which makes the liver yang rise. 3) Pattern: Kidney Yin Deficiency causing Liver Yang Rising Bearing down sensation in the lower abdomen involving testicles Contracted sensation in the scrotum Aggravated by cold Alleviated by warmth Tongue: white and slippery Pulse: deep, wiry and slow
Stirring of Liver Wind in the Interior – Causes All are internal winds, stirred by liver dysfunction Extreme heat Stirring wind
Yin deficiency causing Wind
Blood deficiency
High fever Convulsions of limbs, neck rigidity, opisthotonus Upward staring of the eyes Coma Tongue: red or deep red Pulse: wiry, rapid, forceful Tremulous limbs, especially hands/feet Dizziness, tinnitus Tidal fever, five palm heat, dry mouth and throat, emaciation, irritability Tongue: red with cracks, little or no fur Pulse: thin and rapid Dizziness, tinnitus, pallor, pale nails Tremulous limbs (more in hands/feet), muscle contractions, numbness Tongue: pale, thin white coat Pulse: thin

Gallbladder There are 2 gallbladder patterns… Damp Heat (Yang Huang) in Liver and Gallbladder
Hypochondriac distension and pain
Bitter taste in the mouth (which can be liv, gb, or stomach ht) Nausea Vomitting Abdominal distention Scanty and yellow urine Yellow sclera Yellow skin on entire body, shiny look to skin Fever (not usually high due to dampness) Tongue: red body, sticky yellow coating Pulse: rapid, wiry This is basically a damp heat pattern which can produce hepatitis symptoms, or shingles (herpes zoster). Look for the 3 yellows: skin, eyes, urine, all bright yellow Disturbance of Phlegm due to Gallbladder Stagnation
Irritability
Insomnia ,Palpitations with fear – very specific to this pattern Bitter taste in the mouth Nausea or vomiting Hypochondriac and chest tightness. Dizziness Tinnitus Tongue: yellow and greasy coating Pulse: wiry and slippery Looks like heart fire, but definitive palpitations with fear sign. Also, heart fire will be insomnia with red tip to tongue. Pattern is not widely seen unless you treat emotional problems.
