TEACHING PLAN ON RABIES PREVENTION Description of the Learner: The learners are elementary pupils of Ambuklao Elementary School. They can understand Ilokano, Tagalog and English. There are no known sensory defects that can hinder their learning. Learning Need: How to prevent rabies effectively Learning Diagnosis: Knowledge deficit: rabies related to lack of information Goal: The students will be able to enhance their knowledge about rabies prevention. LEARNING CONTENT Ano ang Rabis? Ang RABIS ay isang mapanganib na sakit na nakakahawa at nakamamatay. Ito ay sanhi ng mikrobyo na nakukuha sa laway ng hayop na may rabis.

Paano ito Nakukuha? 1. Karaniwan itong nakukuha sa kagat ng mga hayop na kung saan ang kanilang laway ay mayroong rabies virus. 2. Maaari din itong maipasa sa tao sa pamamagitan ng halik, pakikipagtalik, organ transplant at kapag may sugat sa balat. 3. Pagkain ng hilaw na karne ng hayop na may rabies.

Panahon ng Paglabas ng Sintomas (Incubation Period) Karaniwang lumalabas ang mga sintomas sa loob ng 2 hanggang 8 na linggo. Maaari rin itong umabot ng isang taon depende kung gaano kalala ang sugat, layo nito sa utak at dami ng virus na nailipat. Dalawang Uri ng Rabis: •

Canine rabies- nakukuha sa mga aso.

•

Sylvatic rabies- nakukuha sa mga mababangis na hayop at mga paniki na maaaring kumalat sa mga aso, pusa at mga alagang manok o baboy (livestock).

Mga sintomas ng taong may rabis: • Masakit ang ulo • Lagnat • Paninigas ng mga kasukasuhan • Combulsyon • Pagkatakot sa tubig • Pagbabago ng panramdam sa paligid ng kagat ng hayop Mga sintomas ng asong may rabis: • Nagiging mabangis o mabagsik • Tumatakbo ng walang direksyon • Nangangagat ng kahit anong bagay • Naglalaway ng rabis • Hindi makakain o makainom ng tubig *Kung ang aso ay kinakikitaan ng ganitong sintomas, ito ay kalimitang namamatay sa loob ng 3-7 araw

Ano ang dapat gawin kapag nakagat ng aso? 1. Kaagad hugasan ang sugat ng sabon at malinis na tubig. Maaari ding gumamit ng betadine at alcohol. 2. Pumunta sa pinakamalapit na pagamutan upang mabigyan ng antibiotic at anti-tetanus immunization. 3. Obserbahan ang aso sa loob ng 2 linggo. Kapag ang aso ay namatay o naulol, pumunta kaagad sa doctor.

4. Kapag may rabies ang aso, patayin ito at kunin ang ulo nito upang masuri at mapag-aralan sa laboratoryo. 5. Magpabakuna kaagad habang hinihintay ang resulta.

6. Kapag nakagat ng hindi kilala o hindi natagpuang aso, magpabakuna kaagad.

Maging responsableng tagapag-alaga ng hayop: 1. Pabakunahan ang inyong alagang aso laban sa rabis kapag ito’y 3 buwan na at taon-taon pagkatapos. 2. Huwag pabayaan ang inyong alagang aso na gumala sa kalsada. 3. Alagaan ang inyong aso: paliguan, bigyan ng malinis na pagkain at inumin, at panatilihing malinis ag kanyang tulugan. “TANDAAN NA ANG ASO MO AY IYONG PANANAGUTAN”
