BY: Julian Risko 11/4/16
UNICEF is the United Nations children fund. It is used to provide emergency health care, safe water, Healthy food and medicine to kids in need. It started when World War 2 hit and it made kids sad. The UN is an intergovernmental organization formed in 1945, after World War 2. It has 193 nations to keep the peace and to promote international co-operation. Trick or Treat for UNICEF started 66 years ago. This is a way to help kids that still were affected with World War 2 since a lot of their parents died. So to Trick or Treat for UNICEF what you do is go door to door saying “trick or treat for UNICEF” and you get money in your orange box. Then you send it to UNICEF or give the box to your teacher.
Here’s one example of how UNICEF helped… It helped Inasanta to get clean water from a pump installed in his village. Then he had clean water. Here’s other ways it helps: $5=Five days of food for malnourished child. $15=A years’ worth of clean safe water for children. $30=Measles protection for 100 kids. $400=A pump to give entire village clean water.
