Blind Play
Flatting Vs. 3 Betting
How wide is my opponent opening?
How much are they folding to 3 bets?
If I 3 bet and make top pair am I happy stacking off?
Flatting Vs. 3 Betting Cont’d
How much does my opponent 4 bet?
How aggressive is my opponent post flop?
If I flat in the SB how likely am I to get squeezed?
What Hands To Lead Vs. Checkraise
How wet is the flop?
Is the pot multiway?
Is there a fish involved in the pot?
Does my hand get worse on a lot of turns?
What Hands To Lead Vs. Checkraise Cont’d
What’s my relative position? How does this board hit my perceived range?
Do I have backdoor equity if i lead air?
Is my opponent likely to pot control?
Multiway Vs. HU Pots
People are more likely to bluff and be nonbelievers in hu pots
Every action tends to look stronger in multiway pots
You can rep wider (though not necessarily stronger) ranges when closing the action from the blinds multiway
Blind Vs. Blind Play
Don’t 3 bet hands that play well in position vs people who are able to 4 bet bluff
Can see lots of flops either by flatting or 3 betting (punish people who open too wide)
Blind Vs. Blind Play Cont’d
People tend to do a lot of one and out betting blind vs blind, float a decent amount
Check someone’s fold bb to steal before opening marginal hands (80+ can open really wide)
The Difference Between The Co And The Button
Co opens are a lot tighter, therefore much stronger ranges
Much more profitable to 3 bet button ppl open wider and fold to 3 bet similar pct of time
CO going to have a lot fewer bluffs postflop due to tighter ranges, button going to have a lot more semi bluffs
Floating In Pos Vs. Out Of Pos
Floating dry boards can be effective OOP vs good opponents because its credible ex: a72 rainbow
Floating in position can rep tons of hands on turns and rivers especially BVB
Floating In Pos Vs. Out Of Pos Cont’d
Want to float hands where we can make big hands or hands where we are going to hit when opponent barrels
Floating is best vs opponents who aren’t going to fire lots of turns as bluffs (low turn cbet) and who aren’t suspicious (low wwsf/wtsd)
Dealing With Being 3 Bet BVB
With mid pairs generally better off 4 bet or folding because they play so poorly OOP vs aggressive opponent who has lead and position
Generally want to be flatting 3 bet with hands like suited/unsuited broadway because they flop good tp’s and overcards that you can check jam if you want
Dealing With Being 3 Bet BVB Cont’d
Have a plan if going to call 3 bet OOP (am I going to bluff raise certain flops? how tight do I think his range is? If I hit top pair should i checkraise/lead to induce?)
If happening a ton simply tighten opening range
Flatting Big Hands From The Blinds
Allows us to rep a stronger range when check raising/leading Can induce squeezes from bb
Makes our calling range tougher to barrel if we chose to slowplay post
Generally makes opponent feel uncomfortable playing against us (nondefined ranges)
“I’m Getting A Good Price”
Fold because OOP, don’t have initiative, multiway means harder to bluff/extract value OOP
Exception is if fish is involved because they’re going to make so many mistakes postflop
Fish Who Limp And When To Iso
Iso anything decent/playable if they limp co or button except baby offsuit aces (play badly)
Iso big broadway hands and mid pairs + if they limp ep
Fish Who Limp And When To Iso Cont`d
Look at their WWSF, if it’s low you can iso much wider and just take down most pots (also check fold to flop cbet)
BVB if they limp iso anything but the junkiest hands so you can exploit your skill advantage, positional advantage and having the initiative in a bigger pot
Squeezing
Squeeze hands that you don’t think you’ll profitably play oop/ value hands (don’t go too light here)
Hands like kq, a10, aj are good to squeeze because people don’t slowplay very often vs squeezes
Squeezing Cont`d
Squeeze light for value if fish involved, any decent broadway hand should show a profit
Once you squeeze and see a flop make sure you think hard about flop cbet often going to have to jam turn if bet flop
Cold 4 Betting And What To Consider
How wide is the original raiser opening? Is the 3 bettor likely to notice these things?
How much does the 3 bettor 3 bet from that position?
Do I have a blocker? (always nice to reduce some combos)
Cold 4 Betting And What To Consider Cont`d
Does the 3 bettor have a high fold to 4 bet? Does the opener have a high fold to 3 bet?
10`s And Jacks Facing 3 Cold
Can flat vs straightforward opponents or 4 bet get in if either 3 bettor is spewy or he folds to tons of 4 bets (given LP scenario)
Absolutely fine to fold in this spot, no one knows what you fold
If you flat your hand is going to look a lot like what it is, not going to make much money if stacks go in
How To Defend Vs. Button Minraises
Can flat really wide range in bb if confident in postflop game/ button on more passive side post
If 3 betting need to go bigger, roughly 4x open to cut down odds button gets on his call
How To Defend Vs. Button Minraises Cont`d
Generally means button is opening really light so mess with them postflop
Can peel more small pair type hands instead of 3 bet or folding them because the investment is so minimal
3 Bet Bluffing EP Raisers
Take hands that aren’t likely to get you in trouble (56ss, 75ss) as opposed to bluffing with kj, kq hands
Need to do it occasionally so that you can 3 bet big hands for value otherwise it’s just always strong
3 Bet Bluffing EP Raisers Cont`d
Be careful, lots of people slowplay/ play cautiously with hands like queens vs your 3 bet in this spot
No need to do this vs opponents who don’t fold to 3 bets anyways (below/around 60% F3B)
