TENSION (GAUGE) When making a toy such as this, it is not essential to work to the exact tension. If your tension is tight, with more stitches and rows than stated, your toy will be smaller. If your tension is loose, with fewer stitches and rows than stated, your toy will be larger. However, if your tension is too loose, the toy filling will show through the crochet and spoil the look of the finished item.

TO MAKE UP Cut a length of yarn approx 51 cm, 21 in, and attach one end securely onto the back of the corgi's head. Now using a sewing needle, thread the yarn through 2 balls (using photographs as guide), before attatching to the hole on the mobile hanger. Once secure, bring the needle back to thread through the balls again in the opposite direction. Finally secure and knot the other end of the yarn at the back of the corgi's head where you can't see it.

Join points to form crown base as follows: With 3mm (UK 11 - US D3) hook, attach Yarn C with rs facing to bottom right hand side of first triangle, *work 1 dc (sc) in each st along bottom of triangle to last st, insert hook into last st, draw loop through, now draw loop through first stitch of next triangle (2 loops on hook) yrh and draw through both loops (dc2tog (sc2tog) made across 2 triangles); rep from * along bottom of each triangle, attaching last triangle to first using a dc2tog (sc2tog) in same way as previous triangles. Join round with ss. Continue to work in rounds, working 1 dc (sc) blo in each stitch around for 6 further rounds. Fasten off yarn and weave in all ends.

Repeat for all 4 corgi's and attatch to each arm of the mobile. Repeat a 5th time, but using 6 balls only to hang from the center of the mobile. Lastly, attach a short length of yarn to the tip of every other triangle on the crown and thread all three through the center of the last remaining ball. Tie a knot to secure tightly. Attach a final length of yarn to the top of your mobile, for hanging purposes, and thread again through the ball with the crown attached. Adjust heights and lengths of yarn accordingly to your nursery.
