MATHEMATICS IN THE MODERN WORLD

Vignette Writing: Nature’s Numbers (Ian Stewart) In the very beginning of time, where the world is still on making upto on the recent time, we’re always being surrounded by numbers. Since then, the time has always been running. The world where we are living and associating is a place that’s being evolved by numbers. We humans, as well as the other creatures like plants and animals, are living, socializing, and communicating with these numbers. In those simpliest ways, the world was being associated and being accompanied by these numbers. The world has always been naturally made, as well as the splendid appearance of these “natural numbers”. The world, the universe rather, is being filled with these mesmerizing “natural patterns”. I believe that the sea, the skies, and to generalize this, our home, the nature, is being beautified by these numbers and patterns to be glamour, pleasing and helping for everyone. From the ashtonizing, bright star that we see in the skies, up to the smallest atom molecule. Before, humans are just reading the patterns without formal knowledge and study but as time goes by, they developed a formal system for a faster recognizing, classifying and exploiting patterns, and that’s “Mathematics”. These patterns have two types. The first example was the fractals which can be explained through symmetry, which is an object or process that is variant to the transformation, wherein, it stays the same eventhough there is a change. Best example is the snowflakes and butterflies. Second type of this patterns is the chaos wherein it is a theory where humans predict on what will happen but will give a chaotic effect on that prediction. A randomness whose origins are entirely deterministic. The divine nature is always being surrounded by these number and patterns, just like for example , the beautiful, repetitive patterns of stripes that we see in animals, the amazing recurring patterns of the the honeycomb and sand dunes, the colorful rainbows, and also, the unexpected patterns of number of petals of nearly all flowers are arranged in one of the following numbers 5,8,13,21,34,55,89. The world, namely the Earth, has always been a world for humans. Just the same with the Earth, Math has also wonderful purpose, and that is to

brilliantly help us in solving puzzles, patterns and problems whether it is a mathematical or a real-life problems. In the previous times, mathematician like Kepler find out the term “acceleration” then Newton and Leibniz invented calculus to help us work out rates of change.
