ADVANTAGES OF THE WEBA CHUTE (Applies to most Transfer Points)

1. Decrease the current percentage of degradation by up to 80% (mainly applicable to coal). 2. Reduction of up to 80% in wear and tear. 3. No skirting required for some applications. 4. Greatly reduced spillage. 5. No uneven belt loading. 6. Multiple belt loading. 7. Reduction in replacement liners required (high cost factor). 8. Up to 80% maintenance free (important factor to most mines). 9. Reduction in noise level and dust pollution. 10. Up to 80% reduction in belt damage to outgoing belt. 11. Almost supervision free transfer points. 12. Easy access to transfer chute due to less bulky chute design. 13. No impact idlers required under chute. 14. Overrun storage facility. 15. Maximum belt capacity usage. 16. Increased safety against injury As each WEBA chute behaves differently with regard to the flow characteristics, some characteristics can only be established during production. The WEBA chute therefore may need some minor final adjustment. Hot Commissioning is therefore very important.

1. FLOW VELOCITY CONTROL • Control (change) transfer angle in zones to ensure that material trajectory velocity and direction of flow is controlled to ensure that final discharge ore flow velocity and direction matches conveyor belt speed and travel direction and that flow velocity is sustained at all times (no blockages). 2. CASCADE (LEDGED) WEAR PROTECTION • Material on material wear – boundary flow effect • Low maintenance cost

3. HORSE SHOE CROSS SECTIONAL FLOW PROFILE • Concentrate Flow – promote “Super Tube” flow effect • No-valley angles or low flow rate zone promoting material build-up • Self-cleaning of material build-up • Effective at varying flow rate
