NearPod Workshop Lesson Plan

Date: November 5, 2015 Topic: NearPod Audience: 6th Grade Teachers Location: Dalton Middle School Duration: 60 minutes Overview: Teachers will learn how to use NearPod in their classrooms. Teachers will be pre-assessed on the technology to see where they stand with technology in general. This training was created due to the school system getting a district wide subscription for all teachers to NearPod. Teachers will be given handouts about NearPod. The teachers will participate in the workshop and be given instruction on how to create their own NearPod. Teachers will take a survey at the end of the workshop to assess the training. This workshop is created to show how NearPod can be used in the classroom effectively. ISTE Standards: 2. Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context. They do this by adapting relevant learning experiences to incorporate digital tools, they customize and personalize learning activities to address different learning styles and they provide students with varied and multiple formative and summative assessments. 5. Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. They do this by reflective practices, participation in local and global learning

opportunities, and exhibiting leadership within the technology infusion and incorporation process. Objective: Teachers will be able to use NearPod in their classroom effectively. The teachers will leave the workshop knowing what activities NearPod as to offer and will leave with handouts to help create a NearPod Lesson on their own. Materials: iPad/Laptop, login to NearPod/NearPod account, workshop agenda, note taking guide, ITSE standards, step-by-step instructions on using NearPod, access to google forms, internet Procedures: 1:30 – 1:40

Assessment: Teachers will complete a Google Form survey about the workshop. This will allow the presenter to evaluate themselves and see how effectively the workshop was to the teachers.
