Solar Rooftop PV Plant A rooftop photovoltaic power station, or rooftop PV system, is a photovoltaic system that has its electricity-generating solar panels mounted on the rooftop of a residential or commercial building or structure. The various components of such a system include photovoltaic modules, mounting systems, cables, solar inverters and other electrical accessories. Rooftop mounted systems are small compared to ground-mounted photovoltaic power stations with capacities in the megawatt range. Rooftop PV systems on residential buildings typically feature a capacity of about 5 to 20 kilowatts (kW), while those mounted on commercial buildings often reach 100 kilowatts or more. OPERATION OF THE SOLAR ROOFTOP PV SYSTEM 1. Start the Inverter 

Switch the Supply Main Switch (AC) ON first.

Switch the DC MCB ON. If the voltage of PV arrays are higher than start up voltage, the inverter will turn on. The red LED power will light, and the LCD shows the company's name and the inverter model

When both the DC and the AC grid sides supply to the inverter, it will be ready to generate power. Initially, the inverter will check both its internal parameters and the parameters of the AC grid, to ensure that they are within the acceptable limits. At the same time, the green LED will flash and the LCD displays the information of INITIALIZING

After 30-180 seconds (depending on local requirement), the inverter will start to generate power. The green LED will be on continually and the LCD displays GENERATING.

Following are the light indications in the LED of the inverter LIGHT POWER OPERATION

ALARM

STATUS ON OFF ON OFF FLASHING ON OFF

DESCRIPTION The inverter can detect DC power No DC power or low DC power The inverter is operating properly. The inverter has stopped to supply power. The inverter is initializing. Alarm or fault condition is detected. The inverter is operating properly.

2. STOP THE INVERTER 

Switch the Grid Supply Main Switch (AC) OFF.

Wait 30 seconds. Switch off the DC MCB or pull out the DC input cable. All the LEDs of the inverter will be off in a minute.

3. TROUBLE SHOOTING In case of failure, the LCD screen will display an alarm message. In this case, the inverter may stop feeding into the grid. The failure descriptions and their corresponding alarm messages are listed belowAlarm Message

Restart the inverter Change power board

*If the inverter displays any alarm message as listed in Table above; please turn off the inverter as mentioned above and wait for 5 minutes before restarting it. If the failure persists, please contact your local distributor or the service center. Please keep ready with you the following information before contacting us. 4. MAINTENANCE OF INVERTER 

Solar PCU does not require any regular maintenance. However, clean the heat-sink will help inverter dissipating heat and increase the life time of inverter. The dirt on the inverter can be cleaned with a soft brush.

The LCD and the LED status indicator lights can be cleaned with cloth if they are too dirty to be read. DO’S

DON’TS

Solar PCU  Use soft brush o clean the surface of the

Solar PCU  Do not touch the surface when the inverter

inverter.

Solar Panels  Use water and wiper to clean the solar panels.  The panels sould be cleaned with water when they are cool.

Solar PV System  Before disconnecting any string, use a dc clamp-on meter to confirm there is no current passing through the string.  Use the appropriate connector unlocking tool to disengage the module connector. Repeat for each module to be isolated from the system  If the modules are removed from a system, even temporarily, technicians must ensure that the equipment grounding system remains intact for the remaining modules. GI STRUCTURE  Visual inspection of the structure for any rusting

is operating. Some parts may be hot and cause burns. Turn OFF your inverter and let it cool down before you do any maintenance or cleaning of inverter.  Never use any solvents, abrasives or corrosive materials to clean the inverter. Solar Panels  Never clean the panels with water during sunshine.  Never touch the surface of the panels in day light as they may be very hot and cause burns.  The panels should not be cleaned with water in the daylight as they may be very hot and there are chances of glass breaking. Solar PV System  Do not open a string (also known as a source circuit) combiner fuse holder without first confirming that there is no current flowing on the circuit.  Do not disconnect (unplug) module leads, jumpers, or homerun wires under load.

GI STRUCTURE  Avoid touching the structure with bare hands while the rooftop plant is in operation.
