4. Work around the top section of the body to make the head.

5. Head section is 6. Finished face. done! The face will be sewn into the gap at the end.

Fig.1 We will use the left-over stitches from Rnd 35 as starting points for the arms and legs. (see Fig.1) Using 4 stitch markers or safety pins group together the first 16 stitches either side of the head to mark where the arms will go. Count 4 stitches down from each arm and group together the next 16 stitches for the legs. There will be a gap of 8 sts between the two legs.

Make in main colour, start first Arm in 16th stitch from the head, 3.5mm hook. 7. Group stitches for arms and legs to use as guide.

8. Start 1st Arm in 16th stitch from the head.

9. Connect the chain to the start of the round and carry on working.

10. Arm 1 is done, we will sew in the claws later on.

11. Count 20 sts down from the arm, leave 4 st gap between arm & leg.

12. Same as arm, connect the chain to the start of the leg and carry on in the round.

13. Leg 1 is done.

14. Side view of Arm 1 and Leg 1, the legs are shorter and chunkier.

4. Leg 1 Make in main colour, count 20 sts down from the 1st arm, work the leg across the last 16 sts, leaving a 4 st gap free, work clockwise in a round, 3.5mm hook. 15. Arm 2 is done in same way.

16. The gap between the two legs is 8 stitches.

17. Body with finished legs and arms!

18. Make a chain for 10 sts.

19. Work 9 sc down top side of the chain.

20. Work 9 sc along other side of the chain.

21. Fold the round in half, wrong side facing in.

22. Connect with slip stitches into back and front loops.

23. Finished claw!

24. Repeat the process for the next claw.

25. The second claw is made.

Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing in the claws.

6. Leg 2 Make in main colour, count 5 st down from Arm 2, start in 5th st, leaving a 4st gap, work clockwise in a round, 3.5mm hook. 7. Claws Make in 4 in C3, 2.5mm hook. These are a little bit fiddly, you can make them as single claws then sew them in individually. Make a chain for 10 sts, start 2nd ch from hook. Row 1: 9sc, ch2 (does not count as st), turn over and work along the other side of the chain, 9sc [18] Row 2: fold in half, 1 sl st through the front and back loops of the two lines of single crochets, ch2 (does not count as st) [9] - 1st claw Row 3: ch10, start 2nd ch from hook, 9sc, ch2 (does not count as st), turn and work along the other side of the chain, 9 sc [18] Row 4: fold in half, 1 sl st through the front and back loops of the two lines of single crochets, ch2 (does not count as st) [9] - 2nd claw Repeat Row 3 and 4 once for the 3rd claw.

26. Repeat for the third claw, now you have 3 claws in a bunch.

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

27. The first rounds of the tummy will look pointy, this is to make tummy rounder when stuffed.

28. Tummy is finished, the shape will match the gap in the body, wider side at the top.

29. Eye patch is finished - the narrow part will sit over the face.

Assembly Step 1 - Sew in the tummy.

30. Turn the body inside-out, tucking all the arms and legs inside.

31. Place the tummy over the gap, wrong side up.

32. Using safety pins or stitch markers position it so it fits evenly over the gap.

33. Pinch together the body and tummy and start stitching them to each other.

35. The two pieces should match up creating a nice even edge.

36. The tummy is sewn into the body!

37. Now turn it right side out through the face gap.

38. Add LOTS & LOTS 39. Next sew in the of stuffing to fill out claws into the tip the curvy sloth shape. of each arm and leg.

34. Go around the whole shape, joining them stitch for stitch.

Assembly Step 2 - Sew in claws.

43. All the claws are 42. Now go around the claws, sewing each in place, time to stitch of the arm/leg add the face. through them.

40. Line up the claws so that they curve in same direction, use the leftover yarn to secure them.

41. Pull the yarn through the claws and into the opposite side of the arm or leg.

45. Arrange the eye tails in the middle, place the face over the gap and start sewing it in.

46. For a seamless look 47. Pull the yarn tight match up the single as you go around, vertical posts of each it will hide the seam. stitch to one from the body.

50. Add a nose in the middle of the face, add a straight line to the start of the mouth.

51. Then embroider the mouth to finish the sloth!

44. Put the safety eyes through the eye patches and the face before sewing.

Assembly Step 3 - Sew in the face and eyes.

48. Sew them onto 49. Face and eyes are the face and head sewn in! along the back loops only for a raised look.

52. You can also add little loops to the arms to help him hang from branches.
