1.0 CONCEPT NOTE This document contains the Structural analysis of Crane foundation for 25T lifting crane on the work barge - ELSA-07. Static analysis of the pedestal has been carried out as per ABS guide for certification of cranes. Also the direct analysis of pedestal has been carried out considering loads due to ship motions (Roll & Pitch).

Guidelines to Design Methods, -
Static stresses and allowable stresses are taken from ABS guide for certification for cranes corresponds to shipboard cranes.
-
In case of direct analysis loads due to ship motions(roll, pitch) are calculated as per ABS ship rules.
-
Allowable stresses in case of direct analysis are considered as per AISC.
3.0 STATIC ANALYSIS 3.1 PROCEDURE 3.1.1
Structural behavior is analysed for the following Primary loads.

Well Simulation Barge
In case of analysis as per ABS crane rules, the vertical load on crane boom is considered as ; Vertical Load @ boom radius = 150% Live load Vertical Load @ boom CG = 75% Dead Load Moment @ top of pedestal = (150% Live Load @ boom radius)+ (75% Dead Load @ boom CG) Whereas live load correspond to load lifted and dead load means the self weight of crane. Boom CG is assumed at half of boom radius.

In cases of direct analysis the amplitude of roll, pitch and wind velocity are considered as follows : A. Normal operating conditions -
Roll = 5.00 ° Pitch = 2.00 ° Wind = 50 knots
(Note :- Roll & pitch angle are considered corresponding to the crane operation limitations.) B. Severe Storm condition -
Roll = 41.32 ° Pitch = 7.00° Wind = 100 knots
The loads due to roll, pitch and wind are computed as per ABS ship rules. Then the buckling bending and shear stresses at base of pedestal are computed and compared against the allowable stresses. The Structure is modeled as combination of space frame & 2D Finite Elements. The under deck stiffeners & deep girders flanges are modeled as space frame members. The deep girders & adaptor Plate are modeled as 2D Finite Elements. Surface modeling is carried out of the deck plating & base frame members by 2D finite elements (Type Plate, 4 node SBHQ6 and 3 node SBHT6 Elements). A combined Stiffness analysis and Finite element analysis has been carried out for Adaptor plate, Pedestal & Deck structure. Stiffness Analysis includes computation of resultant stresses in members due to bending stresses, shear stresses, tensile stresses & buckling stresses and checking against the respective acceptable values.

Finite Element analysis includes computation of Vonmises Stresses in the Finite Element and checking against the acceptable values. Analysis has been carried out by the structural analysis software; SESAM Version 5.0-15. 3.2 ACCEPTANCE CRITERA Yield stress
