According to my understanding, you do not need to stimulate the production of dopamine, but the excess production of dopamine is the root cause of psychotic disorder - schizophrenia.

It seems to me that these foods could really help people with neurodegenerative diseases. I wonder if a study has been done to see people's diets for different diseases. Probably not. Because that would mean we could fix it without pills, and Pharma don't want that. The only thing we're taught to link food to is obvious as hell stuff like obesity. I really believe these PBS doctors when they say food is medicine. The OG medicine 2△

Less than 1 cup of dried apricots = 33% DV potassium = increased dopamine release (etc. several research papers I waded through). Baked potatoes higher. Pity about the sugar, though. Dark, leafy greens (spinach--yum) also higher. Has anyone really noticed a difference in dopamine effectiveness after a significant amount added to his/her diet? I'm enjoying the salads and candy (dried apricots--yummier than fresh), but see no/feel no difference, so far (a few weeks). 1△

Good article I am glad it mentions that gluten in wheat germ may hurt people. Gluten destroyed my body/brain along with dairy/soy/sugar. I am low in protein. I hope I am making enough dopamine since I can't have tyrosine and a few other amino acids. 4△

Perhaps. For people who do not have celiac but who do have a sensitive gut, it is best avoided. It is harsh, and for those people it can scour the intestines, causing damage, much like steel wool rubbed back and forth on a PVC pipe (for analogy only). I do agree that it can be dangerous, but I do not know if it always is. 3△ Indra
