This book has been written for the edification and enlightenment of the magical fraternity and others who wish to engage in the pastime of giving private readings, or fortunes...for entertainment purposes only. This work does not only endeavor to explain the ‘technique of the private reader’, but will prove a discourse on human nature. It will reveal that the average person passes thru a certain predetermined formula of occurrences in the span of their life from the cradle to the grave. A study of these trends thru which we wend our path enables one to foresee these events in the future, and to weave an interesting story about their approach and probable time of occurrence. The task of giving private readings is thus reduced to an easy problem if we possess such a formula and the means of securing additional hints and confirmations, as we weave a story of the past, present and future. The Technique of the Private Reader

SECTION ONE For the sake of clarity, this book will be divided into two separate classifications. First, will be considered the private reader who given a purely ‘Psychological’ or guess reading. A reading dealing with the past and future events of the individual’s life, and performed without recourse to any mechanical means or trickery. The psychological reading is a result of the reader’s ability to analyze, read or guess your characteristics, past and future events. Here he merely weaves a story of your life as you have known it in the past, and for what it may be in the future. If the reader is of any ability, he will present a reading (or apparently so) that may be conceded to be at least 90% correct! The second section of this book will deal with the reader who employs trickery to gain the information about which the reading is to be built. He does not depend on guess-work or his ability to read general characteristics, past and future events. He plays safe. Sure fire, and perhaps from a commercial standpoint, it is much the richer at the end of his career. However, each will be treated separately. The Psychological Reader Readers who employ no means of trickery to gain an idea of what important phases the subject seeks information, does not attack this task wholly blind. They are keen and well versed in human nature. They have found the formula of human nature, and merely interpret it to their clients, and whoever they may be, and in a similar

manner. Their problem is not so much the problem of divining the life of the subject before them, but to divine and understand human nature. There are certain facts, laws and routines thru which every human being passes. With an understanding of these circumstances, their problem becomes less difficult with each step. However, at the outset, let me explain that some people are natural ‘readers’ while others find the game of guessing the thoughts and hopes of others an almost impossible task. This condition exists because the first class are born with a closer and better understanding of human nature. Either consciously or unconsciously they have attained the ability to understand other people. Further, many people are genuinely psychic and are able, by intuitive flashes, to give much startling information under such circumstances. The author does here express his opinion that many good readers are genuinely psychic. However, an explanation of this opinion is necessary to avoid misunderstanding. I do feel that many people are born, or develop a special trait that enables them to analyze others, and at times, are able to receive certain psychic flashes or thoughts that enable them to mystify and bewilder their clients. I do NOT think these ‘telepathic flashes’ are from any source connected with the deceased, but are thoughts...thoughts that are unconsciously sifted from the clients mind. My purpose will not be to try to explain any magical formula by which one can obtain certain telepathic powers, or to be able to receive telepathic flashes at will. However, I do express myself by this, stating that people who continually come into contact with the public, unconsciously develop the ability to analyze, and in many times, learn the inner thoughts of these people.

Private readers, with experience, gain such an ability. Radio astrologers, theatre mentalists and all in this allied field advise the public, find their ability to ‘guess more correctly’, increasing with every attempt. Whether this ability to ‘sense’ or know more intimately those with whom we come in contact, is a psychic power, or if it is a result of your normal senses being developed as a result of past experience and knowledge gained in the past that enables logical comparisons to the present problems, I am not prepared to say. However, from whence the source, this condition does exist. Time and experience alone will develop it. The reader who endeavors to tell another about his past life and probable future for life, and makes a miserable failure, does so because of two reasons. He is either deluded in the belief that he is truly psychic and can tell others of past and future happenings with great accuracy. Instead of causing others to follow this belief, he accepts it selfishly, as the truth. There are many cases where the readers are absolutely sincere with themselves in this belief. Naturally, the information they impart to others is a result of pure imagination and worthless. The other type of ‘poor’ reader is one who has entered this field of endeavor for financial gain, and knows nothing of this task. In a haphazard way, the reader with no definite course to follow...spin, sputter, and flounder in their own weak and unconvincing line of talk. However, if this same person were to understand some of the fundamental laws of life, of cause and effect, and had a little better understanding of the possible problems which confront the average individual, they, too, would meet with great success.

The Purpose. The purpose of the reader is to be able to advise and help others in the solution of their problems. That there is such a place in this world for private readers cannot be denied, providing these individuals maintain the confidence invested in them, and are sincere in their desire to help others as well as to fill their own purse. Alas, such is seldom the case! However, we are not here concerned with the benefits or evils of this situation. The desire of one individual to seek another in the hopes and belief that future events can be foretold is age old and will last as long as humanity. The good and the evil will also exist. This book will guide many sincere people from the evil reader, and likewise by revealing the human interest angle, enable other readers and individuals as how to give helpful readings. The reader MUST cause his clients to think that he can reveal past and future events if he is to be successful. He must gain this false confidence, or mis-belief. Patronage would not seek the reader if his prospective clients did not at least possess some degree of confidence, or at least, hope. The Technique (Primary Analysis) Let us start here to study the technique of the private reader. To determine, for ourselves, how difficult, or easy the task of giving a psychological reading. Let us break down easy barriers, and simplify the task, step by step, by a careful analysis and logical reasoning. People seeking readings and ‘fortunes’ for two purposes, logical reasoning will reveal. They either want to be entertained, and

seek readers (and spend good money) as a lark, or they seek the private reader because they are worried about some problem, or problems. The first classification may be dismissed, as there are only a few cases of this type to be dealt with, and their appearance is usually a dead give-away. Surely, their later reactions will reveal the fact. The second classification may be divided into two types. The person seeking the reading has a real problem in mind, and wants assistance, and is a true believer in such work, else they would not spend their good money. The second type in this division is the person who has heard thru another, of the marvelous powers of the reader, and calls out of curiosity. They possess no real troubles, but usually have a background of dissatisfaction, or the reading is over. They come hoping to receive good news or fortune. However, 90% of these seeking private readers and fortune tellers are sincere individuals with a problem hurried deep in their mind or heart. They are interested in themselves, and NOT the reader, only to the extent of his helpfulness. The successful reader is aware of these unerring conditions, and naturally his first problem is to place the individual in his proper place. This is accomplished, first by the general appearance of the person seeking the reading. There are a thousand and one ‘earmarks’ that will reveal much to the observant reader. The condition of the clothing...it’s probable cost, jewelry, accessories, the hair, eyes, condition of the face, hand, and fingernails all tell a story. The general attitude of the subject, their frame of mind, their ease or lack of ease, also enable to tell an interesting story.

The Technique of the Private Reader

The analysis begins. The subject is classified as to his station in life...wealthy, well to do, average circumstances, poor. A financial value is put on the prospective seeker of advice. Unless a deliberate attempt is made to ‘fool’ the reader, the task thus far has been extremely easy. An examination of the hands will reveal whether or not the person earns their ‘bread and butter’ by their hands...or by their brains. Hands, continually doing manual labor are not easily camouflaged. Soft, white hands, not used to such labor, tell still another story. The condition of the nails if the person is inclined to be neat, careful and considerate. Nails that are chewed and torn to the quick denote nervousness...in short, the reader makes a quick analysis of all of these features. In this way, he is able to make an estimate of the past life of the individual, and from there is in a better position to hazard a guess as to the FUTURE of this person. Now, enter the law of cause and effect! If certain circumstances has caused the subject to be in his present state, what is the probable effect the present circumstances are apt to have on future occurrences? The ease with which the subject enters the reader’s parlor may easily tell the gravity of their problem or very much reveal a lack of worry. While many minutes have been consumed in this explanation, the information, is gathered within the span of a few seconds. It registers automatically, so to speak, in the mind of the trained observer. Almost instantly, though the subject be a total stranger, the reader has gleamed several important facts upon which to base his reading. The subject does not take this into consideration. The absence of a wedding ring cannot be reliably depended upon. This is a ruse employed by many women, though I maintain, it

is not difficult to ‘sense’ or guess when you are talking with a married man or woman. One might assume that everyone has a difference in problems, or different fortune, but such is not the case. All lives, the causes and effects, are more or less parallel. In fact, a half a dozen stock readings could be written in advance, and applied to the population, with very little variance. The subject is interested not in the minor things of life, but paramount issues. If we are to give such a reading, then we must determine in advance a few of these paramount issues. Almost without second thought, our judgment tells us the two most paramount thoughts in the lives of the average individual are LOVE and MONEY. Step by step, the individual is mentally disrobed, and the reader immediately comes into contact with the subject’s past life. The fact that the subject is a TOTAL stranger means little. In the face and appearance of every man, women and child an indelible story of their past life appears, and indicates as to a possible future existence. A closer relationship has been established. Immediately, the private reader’s problem becomes less complicated. The subject is now classified...and the reader’s next task is to guess the most interesting thought in the life of this subject and for psychological reasons, touch upon it first. Now begins the analysis and working of the formula. The two most paramount thoughts in the minds of any individual (above the age of 14) are LOVE and MONEY. This statement does not call for debate, only a moment’s reflection. Love and money are the major problems of EVERY person. And you say, what about the other thousands of problems, and QUESTIONS that the subject may have in mind???? Yes, the other thousands of problems. © Copyright 2011 by Trickshop.com. However, there are FOUR important phases in the life of any individual. They consist of HEALTH, WEALTH, LOVE and HAPPINESS. All questions, regardless of their number, must revert back to one of these four all-important subjects. The story of everyone’s life will be the story of their desire and acquirement of love, financial gain, health and happiness. It cannot vary in its chief ramifications. It is about these four phases of life that every private reader must weave stories. In order for the story be intelligent and logical, a study and analysis of these phases of life must be clearly understood. Thought and reflection upon them enables the reader to anticipate past and future events, and by the law of cause and effect, plus the law of average of past occurrences, is, in pretty good position to guess out the future of any individual’s life. The plan, naturally of the successful reader is not only to satisfy the subject on the occasion of the reading, but to accurately predict future events, which heighten his reputation and increase his wealth. An understanding of ‘cause and effect’ in the lives of people, gives us the information the reader will tell his client. And as the reader touches upon theae important subjects, the client will indicate the correct course for the reader’s probe into his affairs. When a subject is brought up for discussion by the reader, he knows of several angles or outcomes to such inquiry (it is the form of an inquiry as the reader is ‘stabbing’ in the dark.) Of course, question is given, results must be expected. The subject unfolds his own life to the reader, though apparently the opposite is the case. Let us consider and analyze these phases of life. To determine the outcome of various sets of circumstances, as well as to

ferret out past events. People who seek readers are MORE thoroughly convinced by learning of past events, than the future, because they possess that definite knowledge, while the predictions have yet to materialize. Each of these classifications have other sub-divisions, but they are the major spheres of life. Love and wealth covers the greatest number of problems, therefore their importance is greatest. THE FOUR PHASES OF LIFE (Analysis and Facts to be Remembered) LOVE Love is either desired or possessed. If desired, the questions concerns the probability of marriage and when. If already possessed, should denote happiness and domestic tranquility. Possessed love, if true, naturally seeks a continuance of such circumstances. This is followed by desire for a home, property and a family. Since love is possessed, one or two things happen. It either works, and continues unabated, or else, it does not ‘work’, and dissatisfaction, jealousy, hatred and separation are the result. Regretful to say , the latter is the usual case, and the private reader must not overlook that all important fact. Dissatisfaction in married life is cause for a few important sources. The chief cause of divorce and separation in marriage is sex. The second and third, or vice versa, is lack of financial support and jealousy. There are definite well defined reasons for each and it is not difficult to ferret out these causes.

The Technique of the Private Reader

The days of courtship and early marriage are so glamorous to many that the later shock of an external existence and association comes so often abruptly, that these occurrences become memories. Marriage, as it actually confronts us today in the raw...is about a 50/50 win or lose game. Many people enter it with doubt in their mind, and the average man or woman who confesses to the reader that they are contemplating marriage...the inevitable question is “WILL our marriage be successful?” or “Will he or she make me a good husband or wife?” Love, when possessed, but not thru marriage, presents several problems. Will marriage result? Outcome? Is either partner now faithful? In cases, doubt is shown in both minds. Jealousy is much more prevalent in the minds of women, single or married. They are continually worrying about the other man or woman. Seventy percent of the married women want to know, directly or indirectly, if their husbands are true. To tell seven out of every ten women that they possess (or have possessed) that thought is to be correct at LEAST seven times. If a divorce action is contemplated, or in process, the question asked, concerns the outcome, alimony and custody of the children, if children are considered. Law of average will tell us that the great majority of divorce actions pressed are granted after brief difficulties - that almost without exception, the children will be granted to the mother, if such action is desired, and the maintenance money will be awarded by the court. To the woman whose husband has fallen in love with another (a frequent occurrence) and seeks a divorce, and the wife refuses to concede to such an arrangement, such divorces can usually be prevented, though the woman (if the husband was sincere) may expect to lead an even more unsatisfactory life with her mate.

In cases where the husband loses all interest in his life and his wife... refuses her money for support and clothing, and in general is very mean, may not be expected to stumble over the Golden Rule, and automatically reverse his behavior. When this happens, not one in a hundred will reform. And when this lazy, indifferent and good-for-nothing husband and father takes ‘French leave’, his return need not be anticipated. In fact, very, very few ever materialize at some later date. When the husband is a good provider and may be considered a ‘good’ husband, and the wife becomes interested in some other man...perhaps a little more glamorous and romantic than the man she married, and is induced to leave with this man, her life is usually a sorrowful mistake. They seldom come back, but end their days in despair and regret. Widows, grass or otherwise, who have experienced married life, bitter or sweet, always long for companionship and a second or third choice. Perhaps 30% of the women today marry a second time. In every circumstance, there is the right and wrong, the good and bad, the bitter and the sweet. The adverse and in-between circumstances promote a desire for a change. Human nature is restless...seldom satisfied. Not one marriage in ten is ‘ideal’ without secret hopes and desires. In this day and age, under the economic pressure that we live, happiness is not so prevalent as in the past. We live a faster, higher-keyed life. A life not conductive to our welfare and happiness, that is certain. Again, we are considering cause...what will the effect be? The scan of the headlines of papers reveal the effect in the lives of thousands of people. One of the most important facts

to be gleaned is the widespread disease of divorce and domestic difficulties. Money or the lack of it is a major cause. Not one woman or man in ten live a happy, peaceful, and fully contented life. This fact may be born in mind, when reading, as the average client will admit this fact. Something, big or little, is not just right, and it is then for the reader to ferret out this circumstance, and tell it to the subject in his own words. At 30, the average woman tires of making a living. Her one problem will be how much longer will she be obliged to earn her own living, which means when will she marry? The average woman (90% marry at least once.) Less men marry than women. Fifty percent of these women are not true to their marriage vows, while perhaps 85% of the men perform in like manner. Other allied problems in the realm of love, concern the regard for parents, other members of the family and relatives. The concern is more of welfare and happiness than of love, strictly speaking. Love, as referred to here, may be defined as an intense affection between men and women. The average woman - and nine times out of ten - that seek a fortune teller has a heart problem! It matters not what their status in life may be - that thought is foremost in the minds of most women. If the woman is married, she is either concerned about her husband or another man. When I speak of LOVE as a major problem, I refer to all occurrences in the realm of love. It may be classified as affection, emotion, jealousy, desire, domestic difficulties, marriage and divorce.

Thus far, we have touched only on the subject of love and mostly its relation with the female sex. Women are more inclined to ask questions about love affairs than men. Furthermore, at least 50% of the women will possess the doubt in their mind if their husband is true to them. This question is brought into the subject in the conversation. It is not difficult to tell the type of man that has a heart problem, by appearance. I do not mean that they ‘look’ different, but they seem to throw off this thought. Further the man with serious heart problems may usually be accepted as being the more gullible type. Men do not love as sincerely and devotedly as women, and therefore seldom experience such intense emotions. The average man is usually interested in a girl...and has such problems in his man-like mind, but usually his first thought, or one that immediately related on love...is his ability to make more money in order to acquire that love. OTHERWISE HIS PROBLEMS ARE SIMILAR TO A WOMAN’S. WEALTH Woman’s primary problem is love (and all that it represents) a home, affection, security and children...and money. A man’s problem IS MONEY and then love. What is secondary to women is the primary requisite to man. Therefore, generally speaking, man is most interested in money. His other desires are suppressed by lack of money, such as the acquirement of a wife and family. Before, he can make these things logically possible, he must acquire a certain amount of wealth. With a woman, her plan is different...she must acquire the man who makes this possible. Therefore, with the male, money and what it represents is the paramount thought in man’s mind.

As wealth is usually accumulated by effort, plus time, the general rule is that the young man still has his fortune to acquire...and likewise he is more interested in the fairer sex. As the man grows older, he is likely to acquire a little money, a family and wife. Money is easily classified. Everyone wants money, regardless of their position in life. Money is obtained in three ways. Thru effort (employment) Marriage Gift or Inheritance If a man isn’t working, he wants work. If he has a job, he wants a better one. Few people are content to always continue in their present station in life...at least people who go to readers...that is the reason they go to better their present circumstances - and this is a good thought upon which the reader will build a minute’s conversation. The successful reader must not overlook another very human trait and one that is very prevalent today. The desire of the human ‘to get something for nothing’...the eternal hope of sudden wealth thru change, legacy or gambling. Most young girls thinking of marriage, with no definite prospects, always want to know if their future husbands will be wealthy and handsome. Most people are anxious to know of inheritance. Not one person in five asking these questions will receive an inheritance. So many people are victims of ‘false’ inheritance schemes. Estates in the courts usually require months and years for final settlement.

When settlements are slow, the subjects (usually woman) possess a doubt that the lawyers are crooked, or that they are being cheated out of their money. More often, they are negligent in pushing the case, while the element of time and red tape is usually the main factor. The inventor is a frequent seeker of advice from the private reader. For every ten inventors, nine will meet with failure in patenting or commercializing on their brain child. Under this heading comes investments. Ever hopeful is the small man (or woman) investor of profits. Nine out of the ten times they are the loser. People with very small revenues should not gamble, least of all, in the stock market. Advice should be dispensed that unlisted stocks should not be overlooked in favor of the listed stocks. In cases where gold mine and other types of ‘wild cat’ stock are contemplated for purchase, or have been purchased, it is a pretty safe bet to assume 90% of the time, the money is lost. The other form of investment is real estate. You can either retain or sell real estate. Properties for sale now days move very rapidly. If the problem is to retain it, half of the subjects will be successful, the others not. However, with improving conditions, the outlook is much more hopeful. Jewelry, and in particular rings, come under the heading of wealth, and is most frequently lost and very seldom recovered. The correct case, though depending on the circumstances, is that jewelry, etc., lost over a period of a few days, will not be recovered. This applies to important papers, etc., being lost, and in such cases is thru carelessness in keeping the papers in the house, etc.

Travel and relatives are two more important subjects and they are related. In the first place, few ask the questions (others being more important today) if they will travel extensively. In this day and age trips are usually made to some point where pleasure may be gained with relatives and members of the family. It is safe to predict that the average person will not travel extensively, as such is the case. The last few paragraphs we have dealt chiefly with the male sex, and the primary thought with the male is wealth, because men with wealth, often possess the very foolish notion that he can buy whatever he might so desire. A man with money is king...in his own mind, and regardless, money is essential for happiness and contentment in this day and age. With man it represents an accomplished goal, it provides an incentive. It depresses those who fail to accumulate it...elates the more successful. The possession of money is a demonstration of ability, mental capacity and prestige that flatters the fortunate person. Money affects people and in many ways, and the worth of an individual may be deceptive, but not in the great majority of cases. Money, then tells us much. HEALTH The problem of health is all important. The subject is concerned of his own health, or that of another. If the subject is in ill health, this invariably can be noted by his physical appearance. If it is not shown, and the subject is still concerned of his own health, the question is usually prompted by the FEAR of personal ill health, and a few words of good advice as to proper care, less worry, etc., will not be amiss. If the subject is not concerned as to his own health, the percentage guess is that he is worried about someone very near and dear to him. If a man...the safe guess is that the ill person is one of the opposite sex. © Copyright 2011 by Trickshop.com. All rights reserved. - 18-

If confirmed, the guess then (1st) his wife (2) his child and (3) his mother, the possibility of the latter is eliminated in some cases by the age of the subject. Women are inclined to worry about the condition of their children much more so than men. The reader, then in his rapid conversation has to ‘feel’ his way to the correct person. By talking in generalities, information is so often volunteered, especially if the reader experiences difficulty in getting the correct person. The subject is so eager to hear the verdict, that they aid in the solution. So many people imagine that they have minor or major ailments. This is especially true as people grow older. They do not realize that age is taking its toll, but possess fears that their health is becoming impaired. Such people usually reveal this fact unconsciously while conversing with the reader. HAPPINESS AND WELFARE This state of mind takes in a wide scope. It represents the ultimate of successful outcome of the individuals daily actions. If one possesses even small quantities of the first four phases of life, love, wealth and health, surely their lot should fall to happiness. Because if men or women possess these great requisites, then happiness must be there. Perhaps the greatest disturbing factor is within the realm of love. Unsatisfactory affairs of the heart are breeders of discontentment and unhappiness. Jealousy always casts its evil spell, and jealousy is a natural trait! As with the bitter, will be found the sweet, with unhappiness will be found happiness. It is a state of unhappiness or fear of personal welfare (or welfare to those near and dear) that brings Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Public to the private reader.

The Technique of the Private Reader

Generally speaking, no one is wholly happy and contented. We are always blindly groping for something beyond our reach and control, and oft times we do not know the goal. We live in a restless age...and an age of speed, action, and therefore partake of it inwardly. Thus, the private reader in his analysis of human nature, knows that his subject is worried or unhappy some set of circumstances. He further knows that state of mind was directly created by unsatisfactory conditions relative to love, money, health or welfare and happiness. His problem is therefore before him. THE SUCCESSFUL READER KNOWS ALL THE FACTS AS SET FORTH (AND MANY MORE FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE) AND IS THEREFORE ABLE TO ANTICIPATE THE THOUGHTS AND DESIRES IN THE SUBJECT’S MIND. THE READING In the span of one life, the average person encounters certain, well- defined, and determined-in-advance experiences. The average person is a victim of puppy love...high school associations, the acquirement of a certain amount of education...here the road divides, leading one to a very limited education...and consequent trials and tribulations in the business of earning bread and butter...and the person who acquires a better education and a better station in life. Comes the period of youth, love and emotion...marriage, domestic life, either good or bad, yet its occurrence is repeated. Into the lives of people as they reach adulthood, other responsibilities are natural occurrences. Of living your own life, rearing your own children, or providing for them and yourself. As you progress with years, grief burdens the heart in the loss of children thru death, of parents wending their way to the grave. Business responsibilities weigh heavily...domestic difficulties are quite prevalent...and time passes...Some of us go thru the agency of illness or disease...others snatched from our earthly belonging by accidents

and violence. Eventually, we reach our grave, and so begins another generation. This is... THE PATH FROM CRADLE TO THE GRAVE To weave an interesting story of these events, though in advance, is the problem only of a good narrator of little imagination, a student of human nature and the belief that what has gone on before, will repeat again. The first step in the reading is to analyze the subject. This has been explained in detail and such analysis becomes easier with practice. After all, the reader can only guess in his analysis, and proceed according to his findings. If he is wrong, he promptly side-tracks and tries another line of chatter. It is well to begin the reading with a brief analysis of the individual... not only to lengthen the reading, but to give a few definite statements, which should not only prove correct, but will confirm or deny your analysis. All readings are more or less alike, insomuch as we have proven all life is more or less alike. The subject seeks the readings because of some unsettled state of mind or worry. That is almost a foregone conclusion, so the reader starts off with that bit of information, especially if the subject seems nervous. “My friend, I am glad you took the opportunity to come to see me. It is apparent that conditions in your life...oh, yes, are somewhat unsettled. You appear to be at a place in your life that calls for clear thinking and a logical decisions. You have continued to worry, and you don’t know which way to turn. I see others about you...others who would influence you one way or

the other. I see another party in your life...a person who has or will have great influence over you. Do you recognize such a person? Fine. We are getting along nicely. I might add that you appear to be a person who is quite susceptible to the influences of others. Is not this person very near and dear to you? Yes. I thought so. However, before I go on with that line of thought, I want to say that you appear to me as the type of woman who has lived a more or less normal life. Good everyday existence...nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary. You live more or less on an even keel, yet down in your heart you yearn for much that has been denied you. You live a great deal within your own mind...a sort of double life...one physically, the other mentally. Of late, conditions appear to be coming to a climax. Yes, a climax. What would you have me tell you about this man?” After about a minute of rapid chatter, the reader establishes a yes and no conversation with the subject. The subject is asked to confirm or deny all statements made by the reader. In this way, the reader is directed into the proper channels of conversation, though it is sometimes necessary to lead from one related subject to another. Remember, the average woman has a heart problem. The working type girl, or woman likewise has the problem, with financial gain the second thought. The average young man is worried about his girl. The average married woman has worries about her home (property) and her husband. The play-girl type girl doesn’t know her own mind...doesn’t get her man, or can’t hold him. Mothers, and they can usually be told by their appearance, especially older people, mostly worry about the welfare of their children, and their own home life.

If the reader advises a woman, that she is nervous, nine times out of ten, he makes a hit. Women like sympathy and flattery, as do men. A great many valuable characteristics relative to people may be gleaned from a study of astrological books. Learn the twelve signs, and ask the subject his birthdate. Learn a few of the important characteristics about the twelve signs of the Zodiac. The reader rattles off a lot of words...descriptive of his characteristics and talents. He explains why the subject has also made a failure or success. Speaks of the economic conditions of today...of surrounding circumstances that have handicapped his natural abilities...of the favorable outlook...and the problem if certain suggestions are followed. HAVING ANALYZED HIS SUBJECT, THE READER THEN STARTS A FLOW OF WORDS DEALING WITH THE FOUR PHASES OF LIFE...AND IN THE ORDER HE SEES THEIR IMPORTANCE, HE TOUCHES UPON THEM BRIEFLY, OR IN DETAIL, ACCORDING TO THE REACTIONS OF THE SUBJECT. THE READING CONSISTS OF THE READER’S PERSONAL STORY BUILT ESPECIALLY FOR THE SUBJECT SEEKING THE READING. Though this routine may sound difficult and vague, it is like telling a story to a child...the reactions guide the story teller every time, and by your prompting the subject, they do not allow you to make important errors. Contrary, to public acceptance, most readings are conversations BETWEEN the reader and the subject, and not a seance in which the subject does not speak one word, but learns all the important occurrences in his past, present and future. The writer will not attempt to give a complete ‘psychological reading’ in this work; however Dante’s Life Span Reading from Trickshop.com provides a ‘psychological reading’ that may be adapted to practically any individual, and mostly without change of words. © Copyright 2011 by Trickshop.com. The words flow from the lips of the successful reader...in fact, so fast, that the subject cannot but briefly grasp their meaning, which so often is meaningless. This rapid speech makes many subjects nervous, which is the desire of the reader. They are first amazed by his rapid flow of words, and in an effort to grasp and remember what is being said, they only recall the points of the reading they know to be correct, and advice they hope to follow, because these thoughts register more firmly in their mind. When the reading is over, the subject realizes that he was told a great many things...thinking of the rapid speech, the subject covered. He is aware of the fact that he was continually telling the reader that he was ‘correct’, and at the conclusion when pushed for an answer by the reader as, “Now, please tell me, my friend, did I or did I not make one single important error in my reading?” The answer is invariably NO! Further, this same subject’s imagination begins to play tricks on him. He assumes the reader told him much more than was actually the case, and in relating his experience to others, will tend to exaggerate the experience, and will retell them, stretching the truth, and the reader will soon be credited with many wholly impossible occurrences. This is not a question of deliberate falsehoods, but the expression of enthusiasm. The experience is related until the subject firmly believes his own story. The subject becomes the reader’s own (unpaid) press agent. Further, when stories of miraculous occurrences find the ears of others, they anticipate similar experiences with the reader, and are almost 100% sold before they approach the reader. Needless to say, a skeptic is very difficult to read. They do not react like the average person who assumes a natural role.

The reader can, if he is a good talker, make absolute mistakes and gradually turn the story completely around, coming back a short time later with an absolute contradiction...and then remind the subject that he gave that information just a little while ago. The successful reader will win almost every argument, because he is the master of the situation...does not become excited, but turns the subject around his finger...with his tongue...so to speak. Much data will be learned from the subject while giving the reading. The reader absorbs this data at the time, later retelling the subject of these facts, much to their amazement. If important errors are made, they are apparent at first, and are corrected before they are allowed to become chronic...and that is why the subject will invariably agree that you did not make one important error in your reading. At the conclusion of the reading, a hopeful picture is painted...To help lift the burden from the minds of the unfortunate people is truly a wonderful work, because it frees the mind of worries, and allows a better and more sincere effort to be expended, with results much more likely. Most private readers, after giving the psychological reading permit their subjects to ask, two or three direct questions, which of course, they answer to the best of their ability. Many readers advertise and do tell the subject’s name on arrival at their office. This is a ruse to inspire greater confidence, which brings more clients and makes the reading easier. Two methods, which do not employ apparatus, are given in the second section of this book. They are very clever and quite convincing. Many readers endeavor to get papers from the coats, etc., of subjects and in that way get the ‘dope’! Directories and phone books are consulted. Some smart readers buy the

‘radio mail’ from radio mentalists and astrologers, getting much advance information in that way. Readers often buy questions and data from theatre acts. Many spiritualists trade information on residents in various cities in which they expect to work. Some readers, who book readings by appointment, and for a good fee, send fake census takers, agents, etc., to the homes of the prospective subject and gather information in advance. A few real, hot readings and the reader does a big business from word-of-mouth advertising, which is the world’s best. After all the reader’s desire is to guess a high percentage of correct statements as possible. What has happened in the past definitely shows future trends. Apparently he has a tremendous task, but when boiled down, only a few fields need be considered, and careful treatment of them makes possible a wonderful reading. SECTION TWO This section is devoted to ways and means of gaining information as to the subject’s thoughts, and unbeknown to them. It involves the use of trickery, quite subtly, and is more effective than the ‘psychological reading’ because the reader immediately gives names, dates, places and answers specific questions. The only disadvantage, however, with these methods, is that fact that a few people will not write questions for fear of such trickery. With the clever methods as suggested, little objection will be found. The most successful reader is the reader who is equipped to give the psychological reading, and also gain information by any of the following methods. The combination is excellent and reflects in the private readers earnings.

FINGER TAPPING METHOD - Used extensively by palmists, fortune tellers, and the Gypsies. It is limited in scope, nevertheless, is a miracle to many people. The reader endeavors to tell only the first or given name of the subject, the subject to think only of the name and to mentally spell it. The reader places his hand on the table before the subject, and asks the subject to concentrate. Getting nothing, he remarks, “That is peculiar, a lot of confusion...I don’t get the first initial. What is the first initial?” Suppose the name is started with an F. With a man, the reader knows the man’s name must be Frank, Frederick, Francis, Forrest, Franklin, etc. With this cue, the subject is requested to mentally spell out the name, tapping the hand of the reader as each letter of the name is concentrated upon. The reader merely counts the letters in the name and knowing the first letter, is able to figure the name by the number of letters in came. Most readers who use this method prepare lists of all available names in advance, and study same. It is not 100% accurate, because many names will have the same number of letters and the same first letter. It then becomes a guess and if wrong, they try a second or third time. THE TORN PELLET - In this method [Center Tear], the subject is requested to write his first and last name, and his mother’s first name. A small piece of paper, about 2-1/2” square is used. The subject folds this paper twice, into a small square, unfolds same, and draws an oval spaced circle in the center of the paper. The subject is requested to write the names within the circle, and to fold the paper. The reader now takes the paper in his hand, and in the act of approaching the subject, tears the center from the folded pellet...that is, tears out the folded corner, which contains the written names. The reader walks to the side and slightly behind the subject, though holding the pellet in her hand, visible at all times to the subject, and with the other hand, opens the folded section and reads the names. © Copyright 2011 by Trickshop.com. Moving to the front of the subject, the torn section is placed with the pellet, and both are torn into very small pieces and then dropped into the subject’s hands. The names are then announced, and the reading is on. This is a very effective method and employe no apparatus. How to Read Sealed Billets is a book written by your author, which covers sixteen different methods that are suitable for private readings, and eighteen methods of reading sealed billets for platform and stage work. The aggressive private reader finds many of his choice secrets fully exposed in this book. It is available from Trickshop.com. CONCLUSION To those who engage in private readings as a livelihood, I hold no brief, providing they are sincere with their clients, and endeavor to give them the best possible advice. Granted that they employ trickery to gain their point, they are giving the public that which they seek and enjoy. They fill a demand as do other professional people. All the private readers need to do to help people is to give them good common ‘horse sense’ and advice. So many people are victims of sharp practices, that the intelligent reader can recognize and warn against...Domestic difficulties can be smoothed over, divorces and separations avoided...the children of these people be made happier. Legal advice may be given...encouragement of the clients to seek medical care when it is apparent it is needed. Ways and means of making a living, where and how to secure employment, and last but not least, encouragement to the unfortunates who seek to unburden their hearts and souls to the private reader.

The private reader enjoys confidences never revealed to priests, ministers, lawyers and doctors. His is a peculiar kingdom. A kingdom of helpfulness, encouragement and inspiration. To those who are sincere in their desire to follow this creed, I dedicate this book. To those who prey, cheat and victimize the unfortunate subject, I heartily condemn. With the bitter and the sweet, the good and bad will exist. Let the good prevail. FINIS
