preventive maintenance

introduction safety instructions

All the operations described below must be carried out according to prevailing safety standards, under the responsibility of a competent authority.

CAUTION Before all operations: open the contactor and isolate it from the network. cut the power supply to the auxiliary circuits and to the main circuit.

general rules

Our equipment is designed to guarantee optimum operation provided that the maintenance operations described in the folowing documents are complied with: this documentation TOSHIBA “instruction manual” VF00W103.DOC

Extract the contactor from the cubicle. ( see MCset 1 ---2 ---3 user manual) place the device on a support at working height to perform the maintenance operation.

maintenance cycle and operations

The CTV1 type contactor is designed to carry out: 250 000 mechanical operations, without maintenance of live parts.

The following are recommended: Replacement of the auxiliary contact block (yoke position, opening and closing) is recommended every 100 000 operations

At least once a year or every 20 000 operations: Carry out the maintenance recommended in the documentation : TOSHIBA “instruction manual” VF00W103.DOC

Lubricate using low temperature grease: the latching mechanism of the CTV1 contactor For very frequent operations or extremely corrosive environments, consult your nearest Schneider group service centre.

anomalies, probable causes and solutions

The information given below is designed to minimise operating downtime.

Should the solutions proposed prove ineffective, contact the nearest Schneider group services centre.

symptoms

faulty devices

probable causes and solutions

contactor closing impossible

LV supply source.

Nominal supply voltage insufficient (less than 85%) on current inrush restore voltage to its nominal value. Protection fuse blowing. eliminate the fault.

Incorrect connection of the electro coils on replacement. Rectifier for AC current source

see the serial wiring diagram instead of the parallel wiring one. Rectifier defective. replace the printed circuit.

contactor opening impossible (with latching mechanism)

Shunt release.

No voltage at release terminals. check circuit to restore supply (and auxiliary contact). Coil damaged replace the release Release misadjusted review position adjustment Auxiliary contactors damaged replace the contacts.

pumping movements the device does not remain closed

LV supply source.

Supply voltage insufficient (less than 90% of nominal voltage) on current inrush restore voltage to its nominal value.

Release of contactor (with latching mechanism)

Release energised. see release excitation cause.

Incorrect connection of the electro coils on replacement

see the serial wiring diagram instead of the parallel wiring one.

abnormal temperature rise of the closing coils

Energy source.

Supply voltage in excess of 110 % of nominal voltage. restore voltage to its nominal value. NB : the contractor must provide a protection fuse

difficult to break the insertion contact of the contactor holding coils

Insertion contact

Contact maladjusted readjust the next adjustment.

Capacitor.

Capacitor defective replace the printed circuit.

Fuse.

Supply voltage too low, causing incomplete closure of the coil restore voltage to its nominal value. Holding coil insertion contact maladjusted. adjust the insertion contact.

fuse blowing
