Track -4- Dialogue 2. Listening.
This CD contains some introductory material where you’ll find texts corresponding to the plot synopsis and the characters, some dialogues from the play and the original songs performed in the play. Also, you’ll find some suggested activities we recommend you to do before the play, Preplay activities, and some Post-play activities which have been designed to check if students have understood the play correctly. The activities also enable the students vocabulary, expressions and grammatical structures to improve. Pre-play and post-play activities include instructions for the teacher and the corresponding student worksheets, as long as the activity requires them. Some of the activities have an extension part (Extension activity) which makes it possible to study the contents in depth, depending on the groups ability. Both the introductory material and the suggested activities may require the corresponding audio material to make better use of them. In that case, we provide you with the corresponding track number from the Audio CD. In order to help the teacher find and select the audio activities, we have listed below the track numbers with its corresponding contents from the play “MAGIC CIRCUS”.

We sincerely hope that both teachers and students fully enjoy the play itself and the activities which make up this teacher´s pack. We also hope this prove to be a useful aid in enhancing enjoyment of this Interactive theatre experience.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

MAGIC CIRCUS. COME AND SEE THE BIGGEST SHOW IN THE WORLD.
MAGIC CIRCUS. PASEN Y VEAN EL MEJOR ESPECTÁCULO DEL MUNDO.
Lucy and Tom are siblings who are doing their maths homework at the library. Tom gets bored all the time and prefers to read comic books and to play. Instead, Lucy wants to finish it off as soon as possible and that’s why she asks Tom to help her find books.
By chance, Tom will find a very special book; every time he opens it, they hear the typical fanfare of the circus. Also, this book contains a key. It will allow them to open up a chest filled with objects belonging to the world of circus. They both, excited, give free rein to their imagination and turn the library into a beautiful village square where, supposedly, a magic circus big top has just been set up.
Tom and Lucy play at being all the typical circus characters; and so Lucy turns into a charming ringmaster who, as a master of ceremonies, presents each performance which will take place in the circus ring. Tom will play the incredible magician Houdini, full of magic tricks, each one more surprising. Lucy will step on top of a rope, defying gravity, and she will walk along it as a professional tight rope walker with only the help of an umbrella. Tom will play a brave elephant tamer, ready to show that he is the animals’ best friend and that it’s very important to treat them kindly. And, finally, they will assume the role of two funny clowns, filling the stage whith laughter, humor and hilarius gags. All this makes them recreate an unforgettable evening full of magic, funny games and all kinds of surprises which will let you discover how wonderful the circus is.
