UNDERSTANDING AND TROUBLESHOOTING 4G ALARMS

7100 7102 7653

Not able to synchronize baseband bus,Affected RATS=LTE No connection to unit,Affected RATS=LTE Failure in optical interface,Affected RATS=LTE

WHY 7100 Not able to synchronize baseband bus, Affected RATS=LTE ALARM OCCURS ? THIS ALARM OCCURS WHEN RF MODULE IS NOT DETECTING DUE TO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING REASONS

OPTICAL CABLE FAULTY OF RF MODULE SFP FAULTY OVP FAULTY  MCB FAULTY/FAULT IN POWER CABLE  RF MODULE FAULTY FBBC FAULTY  SYSTEM MODULE PORT FAULTY (RARE CASE)

VSWR major alarm;Affected RATS=LTE

Check source to find out port on which VSWR alarm is reporting. Value should be less than VSWR minor fault.

What is VSWR???  VSWR - VOLTAGE STANDING WAVE RATIO  VSWR is defined as the ratio of maximum voltage to the minimum voltage.

VSWR = Vmax/Vmin When an antenna is not matched to the receiver, power is reflected. This causes a "reflected voltage wave", which creates standing waves along the transmission line. If the VSWR = 1.0, there would be no reflected power and the voltage.

CAUSES OF VSWR  Damaged or faulty cable  Faulty or loose connector  Antenna is mounted parallel to a metal surface  RF Module/Antenna port itself may also be faulty

HOW TO SOLVE  Check all antenna cables and connections  Check antenna/RF module ports  Alarm will clear after VSWR value goes down below given standard VSWR minor value

STEPS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING 7107, 7657

7653 shared:N; Failure in replaceable baseband unit Perform steps given below :       

Reset alarming baseband unit Check BB EXT CABLE Check BB UNIT is installed correctly and power is given correctly Swap with other BB Unit if available and check the status Check any other active BTS faults and act accordingly. Replace the alarming baseband unit Replace FSMF if issue not resolved

7656 shared:N; Transport layer connection failure in S1 interface

STEPS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING 7656

9047 NE3S-WS Registration failed 9047 NE3SWS AGENT NOT RESPONDING TO REQUESTS WHAT IS 9047 NE3S-WS Registration failure???

 NE3S is the medium which connects NETACT and SRAN site  Every site sends alarm to NMS every 15 minutes, 9047 alarm occurs when nms does not receive alarm from any site within 15 min of time frame.

Check PING from NETACT  If PING NOK then login will not be possible.  Check site and troubleshoot further.  If PING is OK and 9047 alarm is coming then there will be issue from OSS end.

71058 NE O&M CONNECTION FAILURE

 ALARM IS GENERATED IN CRFS SOL. ONLY WHEN OMU IS DOWN  There may be ACTIVE or PASSIVE issue need to check  Check site’s history if it got down due to power issue than 61006 alarm as shown in above fig will appear after site restore.  Check ping from NETACT
