General Notes 1. Strainers shall be designed to accommodate an acceptable level of clogging. 2. Manufacturer’s names, catalog and/or drawing numbers for strainers specified in this project specification are intended only to indicate quality, design, materials and construction requirements for the particular service and shall not be construed as a preference of manufacturer(s). Equivalent items may be substituted; however, it is the responsibility of both the Owner and Contractor to ensure equivalency. 3. Screens specified for strainers shall be in accordance with ASTM E 674 or equal. 4. Mesh specified for strainers shall be in accordance with ASTM E 2016 or equal. Y - Type Strainers Strainers shall be furnished with a plugged blow-off outlet. Cast carbon steel, ASTM A 216 Grade WCB, ASME Class 600, socket weld connections. Screens shall be a minimum of 24 gauge (0.0239 inch) perforated type 304 stainless steel plate with 5/32 inch (4 mm) diameter staggered holes at 3/16 inch (5 mm) centers and 63 percent open area, lined with 30 mesh (567 micron) and 0.011 inch (0.28 mm) diameter type 304 stainless steel mesh and 45 percent open area. Mueller Model No 862-CS, Titan Model No. YS82-CS-UOP or equal for the following: 1 - * inch

Fuel Gas (Continuous Purge) to the Relief Header (P&ID 943025-120-02-A1)

Basket Type Strainers Strainer shall be furnished with a blow-off outlet. Cast carbon steel, ASTM A216 Grade WCB body and cover, spiral wound cover gasket, type 316 stainless steel and graphite, ASME Class 300 RF flanged, perforated 16 gauge (0.0598 inch) type 316 stainless steel plate with 1/8 inch (3 mm) diameter staggered holes at 3/16 inch (5 mm) centers and 40 percent open area, lined with 40 mesh (381 microns) and 0.010 inch (0.25 mm) diameter wire type 304 stainless steel and 36 percent open area. The effective area of the screen assembly shall not be less than 400 percent of the pipe cross sectional area including the application of the wire mesh liner. Fuel Oil to Charge Heater Burners (P&ID 943025-120-18-A1)
