It's recommended to use clockwise rotations first, because clockwise gathers and counterclockwise disperses qi.
This technique uses the criss crossing method to guide the prana and apana through the ida and pingala nadi. In other systems they use just a straight line through the body to guide the prana and apana to meet. Either one may be used.
