Down-hole Monitoring
System Design and Management Software
Centrilift offers downhole monitoring systems for use with ESP equipment in oil field, water, mining and other applications. Down-hole monitoring is an effective method of accurately measuring fluid temperatures and maintaining established well pressure while optimizing injection rates and reserve recovery. Without this critical information, system failures and associated workover costs can have a substantial impact upon a field’s economic performance.
AutographPC® with the Simulator is the only ESP design software that demonstrates how changing conditions impact an ESP in real and accelerated time. The Simulator adds the time variable to sizing, illustrating the dynamics of the well in conjunction with the pump operating point. Critical, dynamic conditions during start-up and well drawdown are revealed, a unique advantage of AutographPC.
The GCS Centinel down-hole monitor measures pump intake pressure, intake fluid temperature and motor temperature. This monitor provides cost-effective options for improving well surveillance, reducing maintenance costs and facilitating data collection and analysis. Down-hole monitors allow operators to reduce resources allocated to well monitoring while increasing reliability within their fields. “Pump-off” protection increases run life and decreases well management costs by preventing system operation in unfavorable conditions. Well management costs can be further reduced by remote well monitoring and control through SCADA systems and via the Internet. Centrilift down-hole monitors are available as stand-alone GCS compatible units or as an optional expansion module for GCS variable speed drives.

Seals Centrilift seal sections have earned a reputation for excellence in some of the world’s most demanding applications where they are simultaneously exposed to harsh environments and extremely high thrust loads. Seal sections contain expansion chambers that continuously equalize the motor oil to the wellbore fluid pressure throughout the life of the motor. Seals also protect motors from well fluid contamination while supporting the pump shaft thrust load. Seal lubrication is critical, so Centrilift uses only top-grade synthetic lubricants with high dielectric strength for maximum performance and reliability. Inside the seal, a centrifugal pump circulates oil through a heat exchanger section and filter screen. The cool, clean oil is then directed onto the thrust bearing pads. This distinct Centrilift advantage provides better-lubricated, cooler-running bearings and longer bearing life. Centrilift seals are now available with SealLast bags. This technology offers higher temperature capability than traditional HSN bags, improving protection and increasing reliability.
The GCS Electrospeed II is the only VSD in the industry to offer a choice of Six-step or Filtered Pulse Width Modulation (FPWM™) output waveforms.
O-rings are crucial to sealing function, so Centrilift has developed CL-180™, a specially formulated elastomer that provides a vast improvement in sealing capability over the traditional elastomer O-rings.
Providing clean electric power to electrical submersible pumps while managing voltage wave-shape is critical to successful ESP operation. Centrilift is the only ESP supplier that designs and manufactures electric control systems. The GCS Electrospeed family is the fourth generation of electric control products representing over 25 years of ESP specific experience in designing, manufacturing and applying advanced controls technology. The GCS Electrospeed family offers a complete line of control systems that includes soft-starts, motor controllers, switchboards and variable speed drives. Centrilift GCS enclosures are among the best in the industry. Depending upon the application, operators can choose from the general purpose NEMA 1 enclosure for controlled environments or the weatherproof NEMA 4 enclosure for outdoor industrial installations. Centrilift enclosures are TUV certified to UL specifications in both the United States and Canada; these drives also bear the CE or Conformité Européenne mark for European Union approval.
GCS stands for Graphic Control System, the digital control panel that offers ease of operation, digital ammeter, data logging, Centrilift variable speed drives (VSDs) data transfer, remote allow operators to vary ESP performance monitoring and control in response to changing well conditions. Controlling motor speed can lower motor temperature; improve ESP gas handling capabilities; control well drawdown; adjust ESPs to changing well conditions; decrease system stress at start-up; maximize the benefits of downhole monitoring; and improve system harmonics. The patented filter controller protects the motor by either switching to six-step mode or shutting down the unit if the filter fails.
Centrilift seals are designed with a short axial-span between bar stock components, providing better rotational stability and less vibration. They also have a redundant check valve system to greatly improve the reliability of the expansion bag chambers. When a Centrilift seal goes down-hole, a motor has the best possible protection for a long run life.
The GCS Electrospeed II is available in complete control system packages: special high temperature desert controllers; artic units for frigid environments, combination skidmounted controllers and transformers; hazardous area modules; tamper and animal proof systems; and designs for additional challenging applications.

Motors
Cable
From ten horsepower up to 2000 horsepower in 85⁄8-in. casing, Centrilift manufactures the widest range of ESP motors. Centrilift rugged motors are designed tough for harsh and extreme temperature environments.
Centrilift Cable is the industry standard for ESP power cable. It is completely designed and manufactured in concert with the rest of the ESP system at Centrilift Claremore facilities. The cable plant has almost 350, 000 square feet devoted to manufacturing, research development, and storage, and can produce over 24 million feet of ESP cable per year.
Centrilift begins by manufacturing and insulating the magnet wire to specifications that surpass industry standards. Throughout the magnet wire manufacturing and motor winding processes, every foot of the wire is repeatedly spark-tested at voltages 50% higher than industry standards to identify and eliminate all defects.
CEB cable
Centrilift Barrier cable, CEB, has high performance DL-90 insulation covered with a layer of extruded Fluoro Barrier™. This continuous layer of barrier provides complete protection from chemical attack from well fluids and gases.
The proprietary motor winding procedure is carried out in a clean-room environment. Again, each foot of finished wire is cleaned and monitored for shorts, faults or potential damage during the entire winding process. Each phase receives multiple surge testing at voltages above industry standards with test equipment specially designed for ESP construction requirements.
Hundreds of different round and flat cable configurations match the demands of any ESP installation. Centriline® provides cost effective cable solutions for sour and corrosive environments, high gas/oil ratios and high operating temperatures.
The cable research laboratory is a state-of-the-art research facility where harsh well conditions are duplicated and their effect on ESP cable is studied. Manufacturing begins by drawing pure copper wire with exacting precision to produce conductors that surpass industry standards. Insulation produced from proprietary polymers is applied along with jackets, armor and even lead shields according to design specifications.
Epoxy allows Centrilift motors to withstand extreme temperatures. Centrilift motors are 100% epoxy filled. The Vacuum Pressure Impregnated epoxy incorporates proprietary resins and curing procedures that ensure superior protection for motor windings. Epoxy-filled slot sections eliminate wire vibration, shorts and potential hot spots from the uneven heat transfer of conventional windings. No varnish or oil equals the thermal heat transfer characteristics of the epoxy material. Molded end-fixtures further protect the winding end-turns during assembly or disassembly procedures.
Centrilift motors—10 to 2000 hp
Centrilift’s patented T-ring bearings allow extremely simple and straightforward assembly that is unequalled in the industry. T-ring bearings with proprietary, specially-formulated elastomers eliminate rotation during start-up and thermal cycling, while maintaining a perfectly centered and damped position. When assembly is complete, each motor is tested on the automated horizontal test bench. During testing, motor oil is circulated through absolute filters, removing particles down to one micron in size. This enhanced analysis and filtration helps eliminate potential problems and increases run life.

Pumps
Gas Separators
Centrilift leads the industry in pump research and application design for harsh well environments, including: High GOR and high viscosity fluids, abrasives, corrosives and high temperatures. Stage design is the heart of a submersible pump. Centrilift combines a wealth of engineering experience with cutting-edge computer design and extensive testing to provide an evolving line of ESPs. This commitment results in tougher pumps for longer run life as well as more efficient pumps for lower power costs.
Up-to-date research assures accurate correlations in AutographPC‚ the Centrilift system sizing, selection and simulation software program. Accurate data is critical in selecting the most cost effective ESP system for any well environment.
Centrilift manufactures radial flow stages, mixed flow stages and multiple severe service configurations to meet the demands of any well conditions. All Centrilift pumps use state-of-the-art materials to mitigate the destructive effects of harsh environments. Each pump component is submitted to a rigorous quality procedure before assembly. Then, each pump is tested to document performance.
The Rotary Chamber separator works by passing fluid through a rotating chamber, which acts as an enclosed centrifuge forcing the denser liquid to the outer diameter and leaving the lighter gas in the center. At the end of the chamber the gas is channeled back into the casing annulus. This design produces the highest possible separating force and is a superior solution where high separating efficiency is required and in cases where highly viscous fluids are produced. The second Centrilift design is the Vortex separator, which uses a short inducer that produces a rotary motion to separate the two phases of a gassy fluid. The speed of fluid rotation is lower than with the rotary chamber design and the fluid is allowed to rotate freely in the full diameter of the separation area. As a vortex forms, the less dense gas-filled fluid is forced to the center and then channeled back into the casing annulus.
Centrilift patented abrasion resistant pump designs provide costeffective solutions for a wide range of abrasive fluid production. The abrasive test well finetunes the development of a variety of pump stage configurations to effectively produce fluids with abrasive materials of varying sizes and concentrations.
The Vortex works well over a wide range of flow rates. The slower rotation and the reduced rotating or inertial mass make it preferable where abrasives are a factor.
For wells with high gas content, the MVP™(multi-vane pump) is the answer. Its unique vane design effectively handles large volumes of free gas by producing gas through the pump, which lightens the fluid column. MVP pumps can be installed independently or in conjunction with a gas separator to produce wells with over 90% free gas. The Best-in-Class Centurion pump line features an efficient pump stage design that produces more head than any other stage in the industry. Centurion pumps produce a given amount of fluid with few stages, shorter pumps and less horsepower.
Research into the effect of viscosity on small diameter stages has resulted in unique viscous pump correlations for each individual pump type. The unique, viscosity test loop allows pump testing at a variety of fluid viscosities.
In 1978 Centrilift designed the first rotary gas separator for oil field applications. Today, Centrilift manufactures two distinct models: The Rotary Chamber and the Vortex, which are unsurpassed in the ESP industry.
