Doug presents the four Aces with a flourish.

THE BLOOMING ACES By Doug Edwards I like instant Ace revelations. What follows is probably the quickest 'in your face' method I've ever developed. It is so easy to do, and, with the pre-set half pass done on the off beat, hard to top. Cards with white borders must be used. Assume the four Aces are face up on the table, possibly from a prior Ace effect. You will nonchalantly lose (?) the Aces in the pack as follows: Pick up one Ace and pretend to place it towards the bottom but really place it on the bottom of the deck. Fig 1. Place the second Ace in the middle and procure a break above it. Fig.2. Cut the pack at the break placing the third Ace in but a break is held below it. Fig. 3.

Place the final Ace on top of the pack, cut all the cards below the break to apparently lose it, but maintain a break between the two halves. Fig. 4. The deck is now given a slight downward bend to secretly bridge the cards necessary for the revelation. Fig. 5. Perform a conventional half pass at the break, turning all the cards face up below the upper bridged half, and hold the squared deck vertically in your left hand. Everything appears copacetic as the bridge is at the top and only visible to you. Fig. 6.

Start the revelation by allowing the two bridged halves to open and cleanly fall apart from each other. There is a knack to this that should come after only a few tries. As they open, the fingers and thumb are in contact with the back Aces of their respective halves. Those Aces slide into view automatically as the packets 'bloom' open. The four Aces are now instantly and magically displayed. Fig. 7. The Blooming Aces © 2004 by Doug Edwards. Illustrations by Greg Webb. Magic Show is © 2004 by Robinson Wizard, Inc.
