The Essentials of Successful Spellcasting

Magic is real and utterly natural. Since the first time you wished upon a star, magic became a part of who you are. It’s an innate capacity that Witches cultivate and that you can too. It’s what happens when you open your heart and mind to the divine energies of Creation; the enchantment that flows into your life and awakens the Witch within. Spellcasting is the art and the craft of making that magic happen. The practice of spellcasting is ancient, sacred, and powerful. It’s a craft for manifesting success, meeting challenges, restoring health and harmony, and generating necessary change. It’s an art for creating a life of joy, fulfillment, beauty, love, and grace. A spell can be carefully constructed or utterly spontaneous. It can be written, spoken, kept secret, or shouted. Spells are magic that’s clearly intended, willfully asserted, passionately felt, and sincerely acted upon, but magic is also a gift from Spirit that will exceed anything you could have imagined or conjured. And even when a spell doesn’t work, it will probably change your life. I’m sharing some of my favorite and most effective spells for what people often need and want. Work with these spells as written to build your confidence and skills, and then use them as templates for creating your own spells. With practice, the spells you create will have the most passion and possibility for success because, as you craft them, you awaken the Witch within you. You focus your mind and intentions, raise your energy and direct your will, open your heart and realize your dreams, and take

empowered and consistent actions to manifest your magic. And you realize that no spell is complete without gratitude and giving something in return for what you receive. The Secret of Successful Spellcasting The secret of successful spellcasting is the power of the Sacred working with, within and through you. All real magic flows from your connection with the Divine. That is the energy empowering your spellcasting. With it, your spells and your life will be filled with more magic than you can imagine! Call it Spirit, Goddess or God, Higher Self, Consciousness or Creator—what matters is that, as you cast your spell, you go to the well of your own inner divinity, draw it forth, give it shape and form in the world, and you call upon the Sacred to work with you. Spells energized by your connection with the Divine will deepen your alignment of mind, body, and soul with Consciousness, Creation, and Spirit. When that happens, magic awakens within you and the magic of Creation flows through you and into the world. The Witch within you awakens!

Banishing Spell A few wise words: All magic begins with purification—clean out what clutters your consciousness, obstructs your heart, and blocks the flow of energy. To make way for the new, you need to clear out the old. Whether it’s an old habit that you’ve simply outgrown but are having trouble kicking, a relationship that’s doing more harm than good, or a source of negativity that doesn’t respect your boundaries, there’s a spell that can help: A banishing spell. Simple, direct, and effective, it turns any negativity into compost, following one of Mother Nature’s greatest laws: nothing is wasted. Instead, you’re just turning it into something new and useful. Remember, one of the keys to effective banishing magic is to learn the lesson about whatever you’re banishing. Then it won’t happen again! Ingredients: One black candle; one white candle; sage; two small pieces of paper; a pen; an ashtray or fireproof bowl; your journal. Timing: Around midnight, when the Moon is waning or dark. Cast your banishing spell: 1. Take some time to reflect and then write in your journal about what you want to banish. Reflect on why it has come about, what role it has served in your life, and what you’ve learned from it. Write about why you’re ready to let it go and what you want in its place. Date it.

2. Purify. Shower or wash your hands with salt water, and sprinkle some salt water around the entire perimeter of your space. You can also use sage to smudge yourself, your space, and the candles. 3. Place the candles and the paper in front of you. 4. If you have a guardian spirit, power animal, or spirit helper, you can call on them to be with you and help you. 5. Call Cerridwen, Goddess of cosmic recycling and magical transformation, to be with you and to help you. 6. State what you want to banish and write it down on one of the pieces of paper. Sprinkle the paper with some of the salt water and pass it through the sage smoke. 7. Light the black candle. Hold the paper in your non-dominant hand. Move counterclockwise (widdershins), the direction of decrease, in a circle around the burning candle. 8. Recite this incantation:

Farewell, farewell to what was wrong, Be gone, be gone, be gone, be gone! No pain or sadness ever lasts, Free my spirit, release my past.

9. Move and chant faster, raising your energy as you do so. When you feel your energy peak, light the paper on fire with the flame of the black candle. Drop the burning paper into the ashtray or fireproof bowl. As it burns, forcefully declare three times: I cast this spell now three times three. I’m free, I’m free, I’m free! As I do will, so mote it be!



Decisively blow out the black candle. Declare: So mote it be!



10. Ask Cerridwen to transform the old that did not serve you into that which will bring you fulfillment. 11. Write down your new positive vision on the second piece of paper and set your intention. 12. Light the white candle and hold the second piece of paper in your dominant hand. Raise energy by moving clockwise (deosil), the direction of increase, around the circle. Chant:

One thing becomes another, In the Mother, in the Mother.

When you feel the energy peaking, direct it into your positive intention or vision of the future. Declare forcefully, repeating three times:

Let a joyful/prosperous/loving/healthy, etc. Future come to me! I cast this spell now three times three, As I do will, so mote it be!

13. Thank Cerridwen for her aid. 14. Put the white candle somewhere safe and let it burn out. If it goes out, light it again. 15. Now, let it go! Get some rest. 16. As soon as possible, make an offering to Cerridwen: You could turn the ashes of your banishing into compost by mixing them into the soil of a houseplant or the soil outside. Peonies in particular like ashes. Mindfully throw out any remnants of the black candle. It’s over! 17. Re-read your positive vision or intention. Keep it in your journal or somewhere safe. Act in accord: The door is closed; don’t reopen it. It’s time to bring new things into your life. And if change requires many small steps, take them knowing each one is carrying you away from the past and into a future you’re creating with magic and with daily actions in accord.

The Sphere of Light Spell FOR PROTECTION

A few wise words: You’re more powerful than you realize. In the midst of any negative, confused, or chaotic energy, it’s important to protect yourself. Whatever’s coming at you—general negativity, someone projecting their shadow onto you, an online troll—the sphere of light spell is going to make sure you’re safe, secure, and unaffected. You can also use the sphere to block out the disruptive static of an overly electronic culture and all the electromagnetic waves, radio waves, sonic energy, mechanical background hums, and electrical noise whizzing around you. You can also use this protection spell to protect others, especially animals. Simply summon the sphere of light and use your hands to direct it to encompass whoever needs protection. The key is to remember your power: You’ve got this! Ingredients: You! Timing: Any time you need it, anywhere you need it.

Cast your sphere of light spell: 1. Take a few deep breaths. 2. Calm and focus your mind. 3. Ground and draw the energy of Mother Earth up and into your stomach: Your power center. 4. Call upon the Divine to be with you, call your guardian, your power animal, spirit guide, angel, or deity (the incantation I give below invokes the power of Athena, the ancient, protective Greek Goddess). It’s as simple as asking them to help and protect you. Feel their presence with you, standing beside you, in front of you, all around you. 5. Visualize a sphere of light in the center of your stomach. 6. Place your hands on your stomach and feel the heat and power. 7. Feel the energy growing. Feel the sphere of light expanding within you. 8. Unleash your power! Clap your hands hard! Exhale strongly! Send the sphere of light out and all around you. 9. Feel the energy moving out around you, covering you from head to toe, shoulder to shoulder, expanding a few inches beyond your body. 10. Feel the energy, the power, and the light surrounding you. 11. Nothing can get through this sphere of protection except air, information, and positive energy.

12. Say out loud or to yourself:

have the protection of Athena’s shield. have the strength that does not yield. have the shelter of Divine light. am safe, secure, and all is right.

13. Breathe deeply, slowly, and fully. Feel yourself safe, calm, and peaceful.

14. Set your protection spell with these words: Safety within, calm within, peace within Only good may enter herein. 15. Feel yourself well-protected as you go about daily life and when you sleep at night. Your sphere of light will remain up and around you for as long as you need it. You can periodically recharge your sphere for protection by drawing the energy of Mother Earth or Father Sun into yourself, and then directing it with the palms of your hands into the sphere. You can also inhale the divine energy of Creation that is all around you and direct it into your sphere as you exhale.

16. When you don’t need the sphere’s protection any more, reach your arms out, grasp the sphere with both hands, and pull it back in to your stomach. Use the same techniques to re-charge or withdraw the sphere from whomever you’ve helped with it, human or animal. 17. Let any excess energy drain from the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet back into Mother Earth. Thank your guardian, thank the Goddess Athena, thank Mother Earth. Thank yourself. Act in accord: Remember to maintain healthy boundaries. Unplug, and detox for at least an hour a day, especially before bedtime, by turning off your phone. Spend time in Nature to stay grounded. Remember, you’ve got this!

The Solar Blast Spell

FOR ANXIETY RELIEF, EMPOWERMENT, AND SUCCESS

A few words of wisdom: This is an empowering and versatile transformation spell. It will help you change negative energies—both internal and external—into positive ones and expand your power and positive energies when you need them. It’s one of the first spells I learned nearly 40 years ago and one of the most reliable and effective. The solar blast spell summons the power of the Sun, the transforming magic of Divine Fire, to dry up your tears, banish your fears, and inspire you to transform anxiety, apathy, or inertia into optimism, confidence, and action. No matter how tiny that little flame of change feels, the solar blast spell will start you growing and glowing again with uplifting, life-stirring, soul-warming energy.

The solar blast spell is incredibly adaptable, providing that extra boost of energy wherever you need it. The power of the Sun awakens and accelerates the divine magic within you and brings success to whatever goals you set. You’ll feel an increase in your energy and self-assurance right away. Spiritually, the Sun is an ancient, universal symbol of enlightenment and so you can also work with the solar blast spell to bring you to new levels of awakening and inspiration.

The solar blast spell is also truly helpful with anxiety—a common problem these days, perhaps because we live in a world full of stress. Negative emotions can be a helpful warning that something in your life or the world around you isn’t good for your health, your psyche, or your soul. This spell can help you achieve the freedom that comes with renewed energy, self-awareness, and insight. And sometimes nerves are just excitement holding its breath. Deep breathing will calm nerves and gets the energy flowing again. Banishing and sphere of light spells can also help, as can simple ways of acting in accord like unplugging for an hour every day, maintaining balance between your work and personal life, and spending time in Nature to come back to peace and to yourself. Prolonged and extreme anxiety may stem from physiological causes, so talk to your doctor and follow their advice. They can also be symptoms of old patterns and psychological problems best healed with the help of a good therapist and loving friends. And as you heal your body and your psyche, the solar blast spell can help heal your spirit.

Ingredients: A large yellow or orange pillar candle; matches or lighter; a small kitchen knife; a bowl, preferably cut glass; your journal and a pen; a small mirror. Solar blast oil: Mix together a few drops of the essential oils frankincense, orange, rue, and acacia. If you can’t find these you can use substitutes such as heliotrope, amber, carnation, or a pre-mixed Sun Oil. Potion/offering: Iron filings (Yup, this is old school—you can also use a small flat magnet); honey; dried rose hips; damiana;

chamomile; marigold flowers; sunflower petals or seeds; eight bay leaves for success and money; wine, water, or juice. Timing: Around noon on a sunny day, preferably between the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes (Summer Solstice is perfect), to work with the natural energies of growth and change—but you can do this any time of year.

Cast your solar blast spell: 1. Outside is best, but you can also work inside where you can feel the Sun on your face. Put everything you’ll work with where the light of the Sun falls. Take a few deep and calming breaths. Feel the warmth of the Sun. Feel yourself responding to the Sacred embodied by the life-generating Sun. Feel the spark of life within you stirring to life. Smile. Yes, smiling initiates the magic. 2. Set your intention: Ask yourself what you want and need to be truly happy or what you would like to succeed, achieve, and accomplish. Write it down in your journal. Date it, sign your name and draw a symbol (a sigil) of your happiness or goal beneath your name (for example: a smile, a flower opening to life, a dollar or other currency sign, an “A” for good grades, etc.)

3. Hold your journal to your heart. Feel how good it will be to be free from anxiety or to create the success you deserve. Feel your heart open. Feel the Sun’s energy warming you to life and feel that energy filling you, warming you, energizing you. 4. Hold the bowl up so that the Sun falls into it. Put it down and place the iron filings or the magnet in the bottom of the bowl. If you’re casting the solar blast spell for success and abundance, lay the eight bay leaves out like the petals of a flower or the rays of the Sun around the filings/magnet. Place your journal beside the bowl. 5. Carve the candle with your name and the sigil symbolizing your intention. Focus on your goal and softly chant as you carve:

I am one, I am one, I am one With the healing and the power of the Sun.

6. Carve the Sun as a large circle surrounding your name and intention symbol, with eight rays of light (lines) emanating outward from the Sun circle and inward towards your name and intention symbol. As you carve, continue chanting and feel yourself energized by the life-generating power of the Sun.

7. Consecrate and charge the candle with your solar blast oil. Put a few drops on your fingertips and rub the oil onto the candle from the top to the bottom. This further focuses and concentrates your intention and the solar energies, and infuses the candle with them. 8. Connect with the divine power of the Sun. Hold your candle, breathe deeply and feel the warmth, the energy of the Sun. Ask the Sun, the Goddesses of the Sun, and the Dawn Goddesses, Hausos, Theia, and Tefnut, and the Gods of the Sun, Ra, Apollo, and Helios, to help, energize, and empower you. 9. Put the candle on top of filings/magnet and the bay leaves in the center of the bowl. 10. Make your offering: Pour the honey and sprinkle the rose hips, damiana, and chamomile into the bowl. Pour in the wine, water, or juice. Sprinkle the marigolds and the sunflower petals or seeds in the bowl. 11. Put your mirror in front of the bowl. Take a moment to see how beautiful it is.

12. Feel your power to create beauty. Feel the spark of light and life within you, especially in your heart and your solar plexus, burning brighter. Focus your energy and willpower on your intention. Light the candle with decisiveness and watch the fire you ignited dance. 13. Recite the solar blast spell incantation:

See the flame dance and grow brighter as you chant. Dance in a clockwise circle around the burning candle as you chant. Dance until you feel your energy peak. 14. Pick up the mirror and capture the dancing flame in the reflection. Look into it and see the light in your own eyes. 15. Put the candle safely in the bowl and allow it to burn completely out. If the flame goes out, relight it and repeat the incantation three times. 16. Bind the spell by SMILING!

17. The next day, set your alarm to get up and greet the rising Sun. Thank the Sun for its blessings. Hold the mirror up to the Sun to capture some of its life-changing light. Now turn the mirror around, look at yourself, and SMILE! Remember, your SMILE is the key to making the spell work. If you wish, repeat the last four lines of the incantation as you look at yourself smiling. Notice the light in your eyes. Act in accord: Get up at dawn and repeat the mirror practice every day until the candle has burned out. Smile at yourself and feel the energy of the Sun streaming to you, through you, and back into the world. Focus on the warmth, the movement, the flame of joy that is burning inside of you. And every day, take one small step towards manifesting your intention. If this is a solar blast spell for anxiety relief, you should try to clean up and take care of whatever you’ve neglected—especially yourself. Do something nice for yourself, spend time with friends, and spend time with Nature and the Sun. When the candle has burned out, scatter the herbs, flowers, and liquids on Mother Earth with thanks to her and the Sun. Keep the flame burning and… SMILE!

Inspiration and Purpose Spell A few wise words: Sometimes the well just seems dry. You need the waters of divine inspiration to nourish your creativity, your life, your spirit. You need guidance in seeing your purpose and the reason that you are here. This inspiration and purpose spell is very old, very magical, and very helpful. It will unlock the door to your own gifts, and you’ll quickly feel the magic flowing through you and into the world. You’ll feel a boost to your morale, optimism, and confidence. Awakening the Witch within rewards you with the wisdom and help of guides and spirits; this spell works with one of my favorite methods of speaking with them. The Library Angel arrives quickly and willingly provides insight and guidance into any sincerely asked questions, including help in finding your purpose. You can then use this inspiration spell to empower you to fulfill that purpose. The key to the success of this spell is to follow your intuition. Ingredients: Pine; lily; hyacinth; clove; a silver bowl; a book randomly selected from your bookshelves, a bookstore, or your library. Timing: Waxing or Full Moon.

Casting your inspiration and purpose spell: 1. If you could ask the Divine, the Goddess, the God, your guardian spirit, or angel one question about the inspiration, insight, or confidence you need, what would it be? 2. Write down your question in your journal. Hold the book to your heart. Call to the Library Angel to work with you, to guide you, to inspire you, and to bring you the answer you need. 3. When you feel its presence, let the book fall open. Let your eye fall upon the page and write down the passage in your journal. 4. Reflect on the wisdom and inspiration you’ve been given. How does it answer your question? How does it inspire, inform, and guide you in cultivating your creativity? Write down your answers, and draw or create a symbol/sigil representing the answers. 5. Pour the pine, lily, hyacinth, and clove into the bowl. Mix them and feel the pleasure of their scent, texture, and colors. 6. Stand up. Sprinkle them all over yourself, on what you’ve written in your journal, on the book page where you found your Library Angel’s answer. Wiggle, giggle, dance like no one is watching, and feel your creativity, your sense of humor and joy wiggling, giggling, and dancing within you. Act in accord: Do something you love and enjoy yourself. Honor your creativity, the hopefulness and confidence you feel when you act in accord with your gifts. Honor the magic awakening within you and let it shine in the world! Honor the Witch awakening within you and create something that expresses your unique, magical, amazing self!

True Love Spell A few wise words: We all long for love. The more we search, the further away it seems. Love finally arrived in my life when I realized the Grail— that’s the beautiful heart inside of each of us—doesn’t search. It shines! That radiance draws love to you. The magic ingredient in any love spell is self-love; the key to the success of this spell is knowing that you’re worthy of love. The love shining from your heart will be a beacon to the person destined to love you in all the ways that make you happiest. Ingredients: A silver bowl; your journal; water; rose oil; five petals from a red rose; cinnamon; rosemary; a small piece of rose quartz; a lovely bottle; a red ribbon. Timing: The night before or the night of a Full Moon. The Full Moon in May is a particularly good time for a true love spell. Any Full Moon (or a waxing Moon) that occurs on a Friday, the day of Venus and Freya, Goddesses of Love for whom Friday is named, is also propitious.

Casting your true love spell: 1. On the night before the Full Moon, spend some time with yourself and your journal. Write down a list of your best qualities and all the reasons you deserve to be loved. If you’ve any doubts or difficulties, focus on the things that others love and appreciate about you, and make a list of the qualities you aspire to embody. Next write down a list of all the qualities you want in a loving partner. Because we grow, change, and mature, at the end of the list, add a simple phrase like: “All the qualities that will continue to make me happy as I grow into the person I’m meant to be.” 2. The next night, on the Full Moon, fill the silver bowl with water. Take the bowl outside and let the light of the Full Moon shine on the water. 3. Look into the shining face of the Moon, then look into the bowl. Look at yourself in the bowl, then look into the Moon. Take your time gazing into the Moon and the bowl. Look back and forth between them, allowing the shining light to open your heart. Feel the power of Mother Moon who rules all affairs of the heart, who guides the currents of love and brings blessings to fruition. Feel your heart fill with love for your Beloved, the one who loves you truly and longs to be with you. Tell them how much you love and want them. Call your Beloved to you. 4. Create your love potion. Add three drops of rose oil, five petals from a red rose, a bit of rosemary, a pinch of cinnamon, and a small piece of rose quartz to the Moon-charged water in your silver bowl.

Hold the bowl and chant, allowing the love to flow through you into your potion and to your Beloved:

5. When the energy peaks, lift the bowl to the Moon and then bring it down to your heart. Gaze one last time into the bowl—see yourself and the light of love shining in your eyes. Feel your joy. Feel the joy your true love will feel in being with you.

6. Pour some of your Moon-charged true love potion onto Mother Earth as an offering. Pour the rest of your potion into the bottle. It’s a blessing if it overflows and spills onto your hands and the earth beneath you. 7. Put the cap on the bottle and bind your true love spell by tying the red ribbon around the bottle’s neck. Hold the potion to your heart and repeat these words:

May my true love come to me Together by love blessed be.

8. Thank the Moon and head to bed. Place the potion by your bed or on your altar. Until you’ve met your true love, once a month when the Moon is full or on a Friday night when the Moon is waxing, you can add a few drops of the potion and the petals of a red rose to a tub of warm water to create a magical bath in which you can soak, chant, and feel your love drawing closer to you. Act in accord: Be patient. It can take a lifetime to find your true love, but you’ll find each other. The key is to keep your heart open and practice self-love by taking good care of yourself. Let the light and love of the Full Moon shine from within you, and be confident it will draw your true love to you. And when love arrives, one night beneath a Full Moon, pour your love potion onto Mother Earth. Express your gratitude for the love you’ve received. Keep the rose quartz on your altar or in your magical bundle with your other power objects. Take good care of the love you’ve found. Take good care of each other. Take good care of yourself.

The Abundance Bundle Spell A few words of wisdom: This is a very old and powerful spell for abundance. Abundance is one of the divine laws of Nature. Every spring, Mother Earth blesses all of Her children with unbridled generosity, providing all the nourishment your body and soul needs; it’s one of the most beautiful and visible expressions of divine love. And it’s the most natural thing in the world for you to participate in that bounty and love. All that’s asked from you is that you work with Mother Earth, take no more than you need, and give back in thanks for what you’ve received. The magic of an abundance bundle spell is like adding Miracle-Gro to your garden. The key to success is gratitude for all the blessings that you already have.

Ingredients: You don’t need to go any further than your kitchen cabinet for most of the ingredients! A quarter teaspoon each of thyme, basil, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves; seven coffee beans; five bay leaves; a pinch of sugar or honey; patchouli oil; a sprig of bayberry; three gold coins (you can also use paper money); a 5 inch (12cm) square of green cloth; a gold ribbon; a mortar and pestle or a small bowl. Timing: The best times for abundance spells are between the Spring and the Autumn Equinoxes, when the Earth is growing and the energies are all about bountiful manifestation—but you can do them any time you’re in need of Mother Earth’s generosity and love. It’s also propitious to cast abundance spells when the Moon is waxing or full.

Cast your abundance spell: 1. Reflect on all the blessings in your life for which you’re grateful. Reflect on the next stage of well-being and abundance that you’re ready to manifest. Write it all down your journal. Begin by calling the Goddesses of the Earth and abundance: Great Mother Earth, Gaia, Demeter, Terra Mater, Ceres, Cybele, Inanna, Hathor, Asase Ya, Ala, Maria Lionza, Anjea, Freyja, Nerthus, Oestara, Bhumi, Parvati, Kapo, all the Great Mothers who love and nourish life… nourish me… bless me with your abundance and well-being. I welcome you to my life.

2. Make your abundance bundle: Pour the herbs into the mortar or the bowl, add the coffee beans, break up and add the bay leaves, and gradually add five drops of patchouli oil. Grind your potion with the pestle or mix with your fingers. As you mix, chant:

Just as all things flourish and grow, Abundance and joy now I sow.

3. Enjoy the fragrance and the textures as you mix and chant, mix and chant. Rub some of the potion on your forehead, your heart, your solar plexus, your groin, your feet, and the palms of your hands. Sprinkle some of the potion, moving clockwise (deosil), the direction of increase, around your home. Chant as you sprinkle the potion, making your home an environment that helps you nourish and create prosperity. 4. Put the potion in the square of green fabric, add the coins/ paper money, and set the spell by tying it with the gold ribbon. Hold the bundle to your heart as you chant and dance. Raise your energy, and when you feel your energy peaking, direct it into your abundance bundle. See, feel, and know the well-being, prosperity, and abundance that you will create and receive.

5. Thank Mother Earth and the Mother Goddesses. Place the bundle on your altar or somewhere safe, keep it with your check book or bank statements, or carry it with you for at least one full lunar cycle or until abundance manifests. Periodically, roll it between the palms of your hands. Enjoy the scent of prosperity. Act in accord: Be attentive and grateful for all the blessings you already have. Save money every time you receive money, ask for a promotion, look for a job with better pay, invest in yourself, begin your internet venture, go back to school, write the book, devote yourself to your art, and work, work, work, with the Mother. Remember to be patient—you can’t make the grass grow faster by pulling on it. When your abundance bundle spell and hard work pay off, give thanks by making an offering and giving back in return; make a donation to an environmental group, give something to someone in greater need, and take care of Mother Earth.

H ealing Spell for Mother Earth A few wise words: This is a spell that works with the powerful technique of grounding to heal your relationship with Mother Earth. All good things, for you and Her, will flow from that healing. We are all Her children and She loves, nourishes, and sustains us: The air you breathe, the water you drink, the fire that keeps you alive and provides all the material comforts you enjoy, the plants and animals that feed you—they all come from Her. But for thousands of years, we’ve taken without giving back, done damage without realizing the consequences, and disregarded the divinity embodied by Mother Earth. We’ve reached a critical moment. The Earth is suffering, and Her children are dying because we’ve forgotten to be grateful, we’ve forgotten Her wisdom and ways. Witches heal and honor Mother Earth as the embodiment of Spirit. As you begin to heal your separation from Mother Earth, Mother Earth begins to heal. It will become natural to take actions to protect rather than harm Her. This healing spell for you and Mother Earth will reconnect you to Her. You’ll awaken the magic that flows from living in harmony, peace, and wellbeing with Her and Her other children. You’ll begin to remember who you are, where you are, and why you are here. You’ll awaken the Witch within. The key is humility, gratitude, and finding ways to act in accord. The key is to be the change you wish to see in the world.

Ingredients: You; Mother Earth; an offering like bird seed. Timing: Now and regularly. Cast your healing spell for Mother Earth: 1. Take your offering and go outside to someplace lovely and natural. Go to a park, a botanical garden, the wilderness, or even your backyard. 2. Take a walk. Walk slowly. Look carefully. Listen carefully. Pay attention. Listen to the birds. Look closely at what is growing. Look closely at a leaf, a bud, a flower, an insect. Look at the beauty and abundant life that surrounds you, that embraces you, that supports you in endless ways. Breathe. Say thank you.

3. Look for a tree that will work with you. Ask and pay attention to the sense of agreement. You’ll feel it. 4. Sit down and lean your back against the tree’s trunk. Thank the tree for working with you. Close your eyes. Listen. Feel. Breathe. Ask the tree to help you heal your relationship with Mother Earth.

5. Feel yourself becoming one with the tree. Feel time slowing down, s l o w i n g down, s l o w i n g d o w n . . . 6. Ground: Feel the Earth supporting you. Feel roots descending from the base of your spine, going deeper into Mother Earth. Feel Her welcoming you, feel Her warmth, moistness, nourishing, loving energy flowing into your roots, into you, up your spine, into your heart.

Feel the gift of life that Mother Earth constantly, continuously, joyfully gives all Her children. Feel Her energy, Her life, Her love flowing through you. Take your time. Feel the fullness and healing power of your connection to one another. 7. Ask Her what She needs from you. Listen carefully for Her reply. She will tell you or show you what She needs from you. Tell Her you will do as She has asked. Promise. 8. Feel Her blessing you with life and healing, Her energy flowing through you, through your heart, up your spine, and out of the top of your head like a fountain of energy cascading back down, a rain of love and gratitude and healing back into Mother Earth. Feel this energy from you into Her.

9. Thank Her. When you know you have nourished Her as She nourishes you, draw your roots slowly back and curl them into the base of your spine. Take your time. When you’re ready, open your eyes. The world will probably be very, very bright and you may see auras. 10. Leave your offering. Act in accord: Keep your promise and do whatever it is Mother Earth has asked of you. Ground regularly. Take no more than you need and give back with thanks for what Mother Earth gives you. Be the change you wish to see in the world: Remember who you are, where you are, and why you are here.
