Load Impedance Modeling in Harmonic Analysis Description: Modeling load impedance with no harmonic production capability Category:

Harmonic Analysis

Type:

Simulation

Keywords:

Harmonic Analysis, HA, No Harmonic

Q: When a load is modeled that has no harmonic producing capability, how does ETAP model that load with regard to power factor? A: Loads are modeled as a parallel circuit g+jb, where g is an equivalent conductance based on the active power P and is a constant, and b is an equivalent susceptance based on the reactive power Q and is adjusted by the harmonic order (capacitive load and inductive load are treated differently). If a load is modeled by different power factors, P and Q will be different, thus g and b will be different. The equivalent bus peak impedance therefore will be different.
