OCTG Inspection Yard: Loading Process Flow

Trailer Truck arrives at OCTG Yard, parks at designated Tubular Loading Area. Driver turns off Engine, chokes wheel, reports to OIS Base Supervisor/ Admin.

OIS Supervisor/ Admin verifies Picking List with Client.  Material Description  Picking List Number & Date  Target Quantity  Point of Origin  Dispatch Location

Above conditions found satisfactory?

No

Notify Client Focal Point and await further instructions.

Yes Coordinate with loading/ offloading Crew, verify stock, locate rack etc.

NIMR OCTG: PDO representative to very picking list contents/ loaded Tubular etc.

Crew to randomly verify Tubular for Loose Scales, Protectors, NORM etc. (Mandatory for Tubular Inspected/ Stocked 4-6 Months prior)

Above conditions found satisfactory?

Yes Fork Lift to commence removal of Tubular. Ensure fork tips do not strike other pipes. Tubular to be laid neatly on Trailer Bed with adequate dunnage. Avoid piling on one another.

No

Notify Base Sup/ Scour for alternate Tubular.

Loading Supervisor verifies consignment:  Load condition: Properly loaded, secured with dunnage & protectors in place.  Verifies all/any dispatch documents.  Demobilize Fork lift and Operator.  Report dispatch to Base Sup/ Admin

General Requirements: Pre Loading/ Offloading sequence:  OIS Base Supervisor to designate zone for loading Tubular. Clear loading area, place stands, keeps dunnage ready.  Outmost care shall be taken when loading and handling any Tubular in OIS facilities. Severe impact with the ground, Forklift tips, or other objects can cause damage to the pipe.  Each pipe needs to be carefully inspected for damage, scales, NORM. Random Internal check for presence of loose scales is necessary for any pipes that have been stacked for 4-6 months.  Check total quantities against the consignment note. Safety:  Extreme caution shall be taken handling Tubular to avoid dropping or rolling on an unsuspecting person.  Place spill trays along ends of tubular to collect crude  Extreme care should be taken when rolling pipes  NORM Inspection & detection: To be performed by Trained/ competent person. o Limit the number of people involved and cordon off zone. o All personnel involved with the work must wear the specific NORM Personal Protective Equipment. o Eating, drinking and smoking shall be prohibited in the cordoned off area. o All NORM contaminated tubular ends shall be capped to prevent dislodged scale from becoming airborne. o All equipment which is externally contaminated or open ended must be wrapped in polyethylene sheeting and labeled as NORM contaminated. o Client to be informed for all NORM consignments. o Record NORM findings.  Forklifts shall be operated by authorized employees  The forklift operator shall not lift any load exceeding the SWL capacity.  Only one designated bank man shall signal to the forklift operator to carry out the planned job  All forklifts shall undergo daily checks. Handling:  Severe impact with the ground or other objects can damage the Tubular.  Forklift shall ensure Tubular is lifted with by the center and shall avoid letting the weight of the pipe rest on the coupling.  Avoid setting pipe racks on very uneven ground.  Be aware of the location of pipe ends while moving. An end or coupling can be easily damaged by an impact. Storage on Trailer Bed  Always use dunnage and chocks between layers when stacking pipe.  Do Not Stack Tubular beyond head board.  Tubular shall not overhang beyond 1.5 meter
