Interesting themes and ideas for performers.

1

The Paradox A coincidence effect for coulples. Mental Metaphor with 2 cards thought.

Participants and Audience Perception Two participants (preferably a couple) are invited to an experiment on synchronicity. 2 decks of cards are handed out, one to each.

Both (each person in the couple), in their minds, create a playing card bit by bit (color, suit, number).

After the revelation of the cards, the performer opens the decks and find that in

each deck, only one card is inverted, and that card is the one thought by the other.

Effect Coincidence. Each participant names the card that is inverted in the deck the other is holding from the beginning.

You Need 2 Ultra Mental Decks (aka Invisible Deck)

Memory “Each one of the couple named a card, and that was the only card reversed in the deck”

How? There's not much mentalism with “couple” theme around. So this piece can be a

good excuse to talk about coincidence, synchronicity and the idea to be different but, at the same time, a couple.

This effect came first from the idea of creating synchronicity of thought between the participants. I had a few ideas, but the “be different, but be complementary” one hit in my mind.

ALWAYS the thought card will be reversed, so you can create that experience. BUT the important thing isn’t in the visual level.

Cards, in this experiences, are used as a METAPHOR, so both will be the same, in one sense, as the couple, when they met each other.

So, explain your premise and invite each participant to build a card in his mind.

Maybe (it didn’t happen to me yet) both participants will think of the same card. TAKE ADVANTAGE FROM THAT. It will be very astonishing to live that moment, and having proof with your decks.

But most of the times the cards will be different, so just take that moment as a false failure of yours, receive the inherent laughs from the moment where the cards are said out loud, and say:

“You know, maybe the cards aren’t the same in identity, but they had something in common, just as you guys.

Because in each deck that I handed to you, I did something very special”. And from that moment, reveal each card correctly and give a final conclusion:

“These cards are different, but they are all the same in one way. The same as

relationships. We and our couple could be different, but one thing connects us, that is LOVE” What a great metaphor you could give with this piece. Love sometimes can be like just a paradox. A beautiful paradox.

I will break a law from my material and won't give you the Possible Dialogue, because in this theme, we all have different experiences.

Just gave an honest performance and focus in the experience, not only the visual aspect. Ideas 1. You can use also one Invisible Deck and one Kenton Knepper´s “Kollosal Killer” 2. If you are interested in more Mentalism for couples , you can check my “Pareidolia Thoughts” eBook on AmirasIdeas.com
