 Chú ý 1: Đối với những đề bài mà không cho địa điểm cụ thể thì có thể paraphrase theo những cách trên.

 Chú ý 2: Không paraphrase tên riêng các nước. VD: Không paraphrase “the UK” thành “Britain” hay “Great Britain” vì the UK bao gồm Great Britain và Northern Ireland. 3. Chi tiêu  To spend money on: tiêu bao nhiêu tiền vào cái gì Example: An average US family spent roughly $5,000 on food and clothes per month.  To allocate money to: phân bao nhiêu tiền cho cái gì Example: Millions of dollars were annually allocated to healthcare system.  To invest in something: đầu tư vào cái gì đó Example: The government has invested heavily in public transport. (oxfordlearnersdictionaries)  To channel money into something: dùng bao nhiêu tiền cho cái gì đó Example: Extra money was channelled into education by the local government.

 Chú ý: 3 từ “allocate”, “invest” và “channel” mang tính vĩ mô nên chỉ được sử dụng cho những gì to tát như giáo dục, y tế…, không dùng để nói đến việc mua bán các vật dụng hàng ngày như đồ ăn, quần áo…  To pour money into something: đổ bao nhiêu tiền vào cái gì đó Example: One third of the total income of a typical UK family was poured into food and clothes.  Expenditure on something = Spending on something (n) (không đếm được): số tiền tiêu cho cái gì đó Example: The expenditure on mobiles rose by approximately $300. 5. Doanh thu  Sales Example: Wordwide sales of handheld games stood at around $11 billion. (Simon)

 Chú ý: Turnover thường được dùng ở dạng số ít.  Revenue Example: The revenue from Fairtrade bananas was highest in the UK, at €15 million. (Simon)

 Chú ý: Có dạng số nhiều “revenues”  Earnings Example: The UK’s earnings from exports rose gradually by 5%.

 Chú ý: Earnings luôn ở dạng số nhiều, chia dạng số nhiều. 6. Tham gia  To take part in something Example: 2 million teenagers take part in this voluntary activity annually.  To participate in something Example: The number of people participating in this sporting event went up by 10% throughout the period under study.  To partake in something Example: Approximately 8 million UK children partook in football clubs in the year 2005.  To enroll in/ on something Example: 47% of this city’s population enrolled in this charity activity to raise money for people in need. 7. Các từ chỉ người  Tourists = Travellers = Holidaymakers = Vacationers = People who come/came to …: khách du lịch Example: In 2008, 3 million tourists/ travellers/ holidaymakers/ vacationers flocked to Ha Long Bay.  Commuters: người tham gia giao thông

 Bus passengers: khách đi xe buýt 8. Đi đến đâu đó  To travel to = to visit = to come to Example: In 2004, 17,000 people visited this theme park, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in this city.  To emigrate to = to migrate / to immigrate (from … to …) = to move to = to settle down in another place/ country: di cư đến đâu đó Example: One fourth of the citizens of this village chose to emigrate to the adjacent neighbour.

 Chú ý: migrate và emigrate chú trọng diễn tả sắc thái di cư rời đâu đó đi chỗ khác, còn immigrate nhận mạnh vào việc nhập cư vào đâu. 9. Vượt qua / Vượt mặt  A surpass B = A overtake B = A outstrip B Example: The year 2006 marks the point at which expenditure on food and drinks surpassed/ overtook/ outstripped that of clothing and footwear. 10. Sản xuất  To produce something = to make something = to manufacture something = to generate something

 Chú ý: Mỗi từ phía trên sử dụng trong những hoàn cảnh khác nhau. Ví dụ manufacture đi với hàng hóa thường nhìn thấy được, generate thường đi với điện… Các bạn cần chú ý tra cứu cẩn thận trước khi sử dụng. 11. Rác thải  Waste output / production (cả output và production đều không đếm được) Example:

Example: The amount of waste produced in the UK was higher than that of the US.  To produce waste Example: Vietnam produces tonnes of waste material into landfill every year.  The biggest waste producer: nơi/ nước thải ra nhiều rác thải nhất Example: From 1995 to 2005, Thailand remained the biggest waste producer.

 Chú ý: Với IELTS Task 1, chúng ta chỉ sử dụng waste, tuyệt đối không paraphrase thành những từ khác như sewage (chỉ nước thải), litter (chỉ rác thải vứt lung tung trên hè phố), garbage (rác thải thường là đồ ăn), trash (rác thải khô, rắn) 12. Sử dụng nước  Water use / usage / consumption Example: The line graph shows the water consumption in four different sectors in Australia.  The use / usage / consumption of water Example: The consumption of water in Vietnam is increasing significantly.  The amount of water used / consumed Example: The amount of water used over the world last year was enormous.

 Chú ý: Tuyệt đối không sử dụng the amount of water consumption 13. Nhắc về cái gì đó  With regard to something = regarding something = as regards something = in terms of something Example: With regard to/ Regarding/ As regards/ In terms of the three remaining nations, the figures remained unchanged. 14. Giới tính

 Men/Women = Males/Females = Male + N / Female + N (tùy bài mà có N riêng ví dụ male employees, female workers) Example: Female users accounted for 45% of the total in the year 2010.  Boys/Girls (thường dùng cho trẻ em) Example: 2 million British boys joined swimming clubs in 2010 and that was the highest figured recorded in the chart. 15. Trên đầu người  per person = per head = per capita Example: Per capita income rose sharply last year [Oxford]
