Dream Dinner Designed by Panl Osborne

~ EFFECT: The magician selects an audience member to assist him in a most unusual mental effect. As the selected assistant is coming up to the stage, one of the magician's helpers wheels on a room service can fully set with covered food, an obvious botde of spirits, bread basket and flowers. Noticing that there is no wine glass on the table, the magician pul1sback the table drepe and gets one glass from the lower shelf, natural1y showing that the table is unprepared. He hands his newly selected assistant a menu from the appetizer column; salad, soup, or shrimp cocktail. From the entree column she can choos~ prime rib, lobster or trout. Beverage choices include red wine, white wine or champagne. From the dessen column she may select chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream or cherry pie. Once she has made all the selections she is asked if she would like to change her mind. Once she has finalized her selections the magician uncovers the foOO,and it matches item for item with what she had freely chosen from the m~nu. METHOD: By looking at our plans, you can see that this unique exhibition of mind reading is accomplished with the aid of a hidden assistant under the table. Basically she is hidden 0011House style under the table as indicated in our front elevation. When the magician pulls back the drape as in our side elevation, the audience sees only the typical room service cart supplies because the girl is hidden behind the drape. Hidden in the "Hot Box" are the various selectioÍls of food and beverages that can be selected by the audience member. As the volunteer chooses their meal, the hidden assistant locates it and pops it into place under the three food domes. The wine and champagne is slid up under the cloththat apparently covers the beverage. Actually, a small wire form bent in the shape of a bottle with a "foil" neck holds the c1othinto position until the selected drink can be insened. Al1the food is plastic display style permanently mounted to it's respective plate. Once all the choices have been made, it is a simpler matter for the magician to remove the covers and show the various selections!
