Apa itu Shape Memory Alloy ? SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) merupakan bahan yang memiliki kemampuan untuk kembali pada bentuk awalnya ketika dipanaskan

Karakteristik Shape Memory Material 

Shape memory material yang banyakdigunakan adalah jenis paduan Nikel dan Titanium(Nitinol).



Bahan ini memiliki sifat listrik dan mekanik yang baik, umur kelelahan bahan yang lama, serta ketahanan korosi yang tinggi.



Sebagai bahan aktuator,bahan ini dapat mengalami regangan sampai 5% bahkan lebih.

Bagaimana Shape Memory Alloy bekerja ?  Pada

kondisi suhu kamar shape memory alloy Ni-Ti berada dalam fasa martensit dan mudah mengalami deformasi (perubahan bentuk).

 Material

tersebut dapat kembali ke bentuk semula dengan memberikan stimulus termal  sehingga kembali berubah dari fasa martensit  ke austenit, kemudian berubah kembali dari austenit menjadi martensit ketika dilakukan proses pendinginan

PRINCIPLE  Martensite: • Low temperature phase • Relatively weak  Austenite: • High temperature phase • Relatively strong

• Plane wings with SMA wires can change shape by inducing voltages in them. This can replace hydraulic and electromechanical actuators.

2) Dalam Bidang Kedokteran ▪ Nanomuscles ▪ Surgical instruments ▪ Tissue Spreader ▪ Coronary Probe ▪ Brain Spatula

▪ Endoscopy: miniature zoom device, bending actuator

Copper based SMA

• Recoverable strain(8%) • Shape change temperature range (-200 to +200°C) • High resistance to corrosion • Consist of 50% Ni and 50% Ti • Expensive material and highly controlled Fabrication process.

• Recoverable strain(4-5%) • Shape change temperature range (-200 to +150°C) • Low resistance to corrosion. • Consist of 80% Cu and 20% Zn+Al. • Less expensive material and Metallurgical process.
