This Procedure provides the detailed quality requirements to be met during Energization of Electrical equipments and Inspection of those operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES • It is the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR Electrical Supervisor to monitor the program of energization of any electrical equipment • It is the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR QC Electrical Inspector to verify that all the Quality procedures mentioned in the Company approved Inspection and test plan for the equipment to be energized has been completed and recorded.

PROCEDURE

4.1

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS BEFORE ENERGIZING ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT • It is the responsibility of the Contractor QC Inspector to ensure that the equipment is installed properly in accordance with Contract drawings, specifications Company standards and Industry codes and standards. • Before energizing any electrical equipment it is to be ensured that the equipment has been checked inspected and tested in accordance with Manufacturer’s recommendations and all devices and wiring are not damaged and will operate as intended by the manufacturer. • Equipment shall be subjected to functional tests as required to ensure proper operation of the equipment. • It is to be ensured that the equipment to be energized is secured by corrosion resistant Washers (SS 316 grade) and properly tightened.

• All Test results shall be recorded and a copy shall be furnished to Company before energization. • Ensure that identification name plates are properly installed and labelled on all electrical equipment. • It is to be ensured that ,before energization ,where potentially dangerous condition exists, all safety precautions has been taken .Personnel shall be informed barriers and caution signs shall be in place. • Before energization of electrical equipment from power source, electrical equipment shall be tested and test reports should be provided as per SATIP. • Before energization it is to ensured that the grounding system has been installed accordance with the Contract drawings, Specifications and the NEC and that all connections are tight. • All Grounding connections to the electrical equipment are properly bonded secured and sealed. • All Power and control cables for the electrical equipment shall be installed properly, routed • Glanded and terminated and verified for tightness before energization in accordance with Contract drawings, Standards and specifications • Before energizing all jumper wires and tools used for testing the equipment must be removed from the equipment. • Replace all barriers and covers, close all the doors and latches before energizing. • Safety locks and tags must be removed before energization. • Warning label indicating “Equipment Energized “must be labelled on the equipment to be energized. • Prior to the energization of the system the certificates must be signed by the involve parties. • energization certificate form, see attachment # 1 4.2

ELECTRICAL MOTORS • Installation of motors shall be completed in accordance with Company standards, Contract drawings and specifications before energization. • The motor foundation must be rigidly support all four feets of the motor in the same plane. • The motor must be examined carefully for damage with particular attention to terminal boxes, fans and covers. • Before energization, it is to be ensured that a continuity test has been performed and recorded on all motor Power and control cables • Before energization Insulation resistance test and Continuity test should be performed for Motor windings and should be found within the permissible limits. • Before energization the motor must be checked for, proper lubrication, shaft alignment, electrical connections, control circuit operation and space heater operation. • Grounding connections must be properly bonded secured and tightened for each motor before energization. • Before energization, Motor circuit protection must be properly installed in accordance with Contract drawings, International standards and specifications. • Electrical connections for motors must be checked against wiring diagrams.

• Before energization of the motor the shaft must be turned by hand to ensure that it rotates freely • Energize the motor momentarily that the direction of motor rotation is proper. • Check the voltage, phase ,and all drive parameters against motor name plate • The motor should not be allowed to operate at speeds beyond the safe mechanical limits. • When the checks are satisfactorily, the motor must be put for 2 hour run test on NO-LOAD to verify the voltage current, speed, vibration and temperature as per Saudhi Aramco Pre-Commissioning form SA-P018. 4.3

LIGHTING SYSTEMS • Before energization of the lighting system, it is to be ensured that all lighting fixture assemblies are free of damage and are installed in accordance with Project documents and specifications. • The lighting system must be visually inspected for proper electrical cable connections and grounding cable connections before energization • Lighting contactor panel and switches must be verified for proper fuse ratings in accordance with Project documents. • After energization, lighting system must be checked for proper illumination using a calibrated LUX meter.

4.4

NAVIGATIONAL AID LANTERNS • Installation of Navigational aid lanterns must be completed in accordance with Contract drawings and Project documents and manufacturers recommendations. • Batteries must be visually inspected for proper connections. • Terminal voltage of the batteries must be checked in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and project documents. • Batteries must be fully charged (from Solar Power source) before energizing the equipment. • Grounding connection for the equipment shall be completed before energization.

4.5

HOIST CRANE • Installation of hoist crane shall be completed in accordance with Company standards, Contract drawings and specifications before energization. • The motor must be examined carefully for damage with particular attention to control box. • Check the voltage, phase and all drive parameters against crane name plate • The motor should not be allowed to operate at speeds beyond the safe mechanical limits. • Verify the load test, crane moving functions, limit switch settings and after successfully completion of testing put tested OK sticker on control panel.

5.

GROUNDING

Electrical enclosures and equipments shall be effectively connected to the grounding system in accordance with the contract drawings and as required by NEC Article 250 and SAES-P-111. This shall ensure safety of personnel and apparatus in the event of electrical equipment failures and prevent damage from lightening and static electricity. Please ensure that grounding test is completed before energization of any equipment.

6.

SAFETY AND PRECAUTIONS • All manpower that performs energization shall be qualified personnel and shall be equipped with Personal Protective Equipment and shall follow all safety rules and regulations. • Make sure the PTW is in place before energization. • Use a lockout and tagout when possible. Use a tagout when a lockout is impractical. A tagout is used alone only when a lock does not fit the disconnect device. • Remove all power sources including primary and secondary. Measure for voltage using a voltmeter to ensure that power is OFF.
