When we planned our high capacity, driverless metro line, we considered that one of the main success factors to guarantee the viability of this project was high-reliability and high-availability rolling stock. Today we can confirm that this objective has been fully reached thanks to the Metropolis trains supplied by Alstom along with the complete integration of all interfaces involved in the UTO* line.

Since the contract award, Alstom has executed the project on schedule for the first two of the 23 trains and we have enjoyed very good project collaboration with Alstom – with both their local Netherlands-based team and the teams in their manufacturing centres in France and Poland. We look forward to putting these trains into service and to the benefits they will bring to Amsterdam’s inhabitants and visitors, and also to us, the Transit Operator.

Our aim is to offer customers exacting designs faithfully rendered in the image of their expectations and in perfect harmony with the general configuration of the vehicle under development. Face-to-face meetings establish a rapport with the customer that makes the choice process simple and straightforward. Once the design principles are agreed upon, they are integrated into product design.

Alstom provides a proven driverless radio CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) system ensuring high reliability, safety and an optimized quality of service for passengers on any type of rolling stock, new or existing. The system integrates all the functions required for full Unattended Train Operation (UTO) both for the line and depot. Alstom supplied URBALIS UTO on Singapore North-East and Circle Lines and Lausanne M2.
Working in close coordination, fleet managers and maintenance technicians use TrainTracer to schedule parts changes more accurately, during regularly scheduled maintenance, avoiding disruptive failures.
TRAINLIFE SERVICES Alstom offers a full range of metro maintenance services and parts logistics support working with each customer’s maintenance crews.
