I Wandered Lonely As a Cloud by William Wordsworth Theme Happiness "I wandered lonely as a Cloud" is a poem that will make a reader feels cozy and happy. This poem describe about wonderful scene that was experienced by the poet as he wandered alone in hill beside the lake. Appreciation to the nature The poet shows his appreciation to the Mother Nature as he saw daffodils in the very pleasing setting. To him, the daffodils lays beside the trees are so beautiful that he compare it to trillion of stars that shine in Milky Way. Mood of tone The poem may begin on a somewhat sad note when the speaker claims that he "wandered lonely as a cloud," but the tone of the poem quickly becomes joyful, when he spots a group of daffodils. Rhyme scheme "I wandered lonely as a Cloud" consists of four stanzas with six lines each, for a total of 24 lines. The rhyme scheme for each stanza is ABABCC. Here's the first stanza with the rhyme scheme labeled: I WANDERED lonely as a Cloud (A) That floats on high o'er vales and Hills, (B) When all at once I saw a crowd, (A) A host, of golden Daffodils; (B) Beside the Lake, beneath the trees, (C) Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. (C) Paraphrase In the first stanza the speaker describes a time when he wandered alone over the valleys and hills thus making it “I wandered lonely as a cloud”. Finally, he came across a crowd of daffodils stretching out over almost everything he could see, "fluttering and dancing in the breeze": In the second stanza the speakers describe it more detail about the flower and compares it to Milky Way. This is because there were so many daffodils stretching out and packed together like a shining stars in the Milky Way, “continuous as the stars that shine and twinkle on the milky way” In the third stanza the speaker compares the waves in the lake with the waves of the daffodils. He decided that even though that the waves in the lake are sparkling but still cannot match the daffodils which are much pleasant, “but they outdid the sparkling waves in glee”. He then could not help but feels cozy with the surroundings and

wondered what he had gained from the experience, “what wealth the show to me had brought”. In the fourth and final stanza he describes what he gained from the experience where when he was lonely or in pensive mood, he could remember about the memory with the daffodils and drift away with it with pleasure feeling, “and then my heart with pleasure fills, and dances with the daffodils”.
