With tope still on one end of rods and other end threaded through wrenches so they open between the some two rods, center on conductor over point of support and close around conductor as shown above. Twist rods enough to give permanent set. Remove tope and slide wrenches half way to ends and repeat Move wrenches to end of rods and twist Attach clips and tighten before removing so end of rods will flare after removal. Rods should be twisted snugly with a smooth lay in some direction as lay of conductor. For tool application. insert half the reinforcements in one cavity and the other half in the other cavity of the open wrenches, keeping the ends even. Hook wrench.s over the conductor and dose jaws. Space wrenches approximately one reinforcement pitch apart and twist them in the same direction as the lay of the conductor. Wind each wrench to the end of the reinforcements and remove.
For hand application, hold one or more reinforcements against the conductor with midpoint at the insulator, and rotate in same direction as the lay of the conductor for three or four inches each side of center. In like manner apply remaining reinforcements to center section. After all have been started. complete the application by a rotary outward wiping motion of the hand. Make certain that the ends smop into ploce in proper order.

Neither the conductor nor the connector sholl be altered to attempt installation of a fitting on a conductor for which it is designed. 2- All conductors sholl be thoroughly cleaned with a steel brush before making connections. If the conductor Is weathered or blackened, unlay strands for a distance at least equal to the joint length and clean strands thoroughly. New conductor should be brushed as well as old conductor to remove any oxide that might have formed. 3- Select the correct press and dies for the conductor and compression connector. Core should be token that the compression tool is in proper adjustment, the proper size connector and die are used and the required number of indents are mode. 4- Slip the aluminum compression sleeve over one coble end, and bock it out of the way along the coble. 5- Cut off aluminum strands from each coble end, exposing the steel core for a distance of 1/2" more than holf the length of the steel compression sleeve. Use core not to nick the steel core.

Transformer polarity is on indiction of the direction of current flow through the high-voltage terminals with respect to the direction of current flow through the low-voltage terminals at any given instant in the alternating cycle. The polarity of a single-phase distribution transformer may be additive or A simple test for polarity is to connect two adjacent terminals subtractive. of the hlgh- and low-voltage windings together and apply a moderate vqltage to either winding. The polarity Is additive if the voltage across the other two leads of the windings In Question is greater than that of the high-voltage winding alone (FIG. A). The polarity Is subtractive If the voltage across the other two leads of the windings in questions is less than that of the high-voltage winding alone (FIG. B). By industry standards. all single-phose distribution transformers 200 KVA and smaller, having high voitages 8660 volts and below (winding voltage) have additive oolaritv. All other single-phase transformers have a subtractive aoloritv.

1- This connection Is recommended when a three-phase SeMet at 24D/120v01tIs needed but only two primary phases aro a_1ob1o.
2- This connection can only be made on an effectively grounded WYEprimary s)'Stem. since the primary neutral point must be grounded. 3- Connection Is also useful when there is a emall amount of three-phase load and a relatively large single-phase load. 4- The lighting transformer must be connected to the leaang phase to reduce flicker. 5- Due to divisionof load the lighting transformer is nonmollylarger than the power transformer. There is no limitations on the roUo of the two sizes used.
6- Thelightingtransformershouldbe sized to corry 100%of the single-phase load and 58%of the three-phose load, whle the power transformer Is sized to corry 5/3%of the three-phose load.
7- The secondary and primGl)'neutrals must be bonded together.

POWER LEIG SECONDARY CONDUCTORS
1- The neutrel point of the high voltage windings mllst not be grounded to ovoid creating a grounding bonk. 2- The transformer winding of the lighting transformer is connected to ground to provide a neutrot for the 240/120volt three-phase service. 3- The tronsformer must have the same turns ratio but not neccessarUythe same precent impedance.
+- This connection will serve a combination of single-phase and three-phose loads. The lighting transformer is generally larger than the power transformer since it serves 66% of the singlephase loads while the power transformers each only ser... 33% of the single-phose loads. The three-phase is equally divided amoung the transformers. The lighting transformer should ne r be more than twice the size of the power transformer. 5- This connection type suppresses the third harmonic but can be susceptible to ferroresononco, 6- This connection is used for three-phase service. at 240/12Dvolt or 480/240volt.

1- The neutral mU5t be 50lidly grounded on both primary and 5ecandary.
2- It is preferable that the transformers have the same polarity, inpedance and turn5 ratio. J- Each tran5former will serve all of the 5ingle-phase connected to it and one-third of the three-pha5e loads. 4- This connection effectively eliminates the probability of ferroresonance and suppress the third harnnon1c content. 5- This connection is generally made to supply large single-phase ioads in combination with three-phase loads in any proportion.
6- This connection type is used to serve three-phase services at 208/120volts or 480/277volts.
