(FEMA SLB, 29 Mar) NY issued an Executive Order mandating the state’s Presidential Primary to be moved from 28 Apr to 23 Jun. (CISA, 0458 ET 29 Mar) The CDC issued an advisory urging residents of the NYC area to refrain from non-essential domestic travel for 14 days, effective immediately. The advisory applies to residents from NY, NJ, and CT. (CISA, 0458 ET 29 Mar) FEMA / HHS setting up a medical station at Javits Center in NYC to supplement non-COVID-19 healthcare needs. (FEMA, 1051 ET 29 Mar) • The first 1,000-bed portion is complete and expected to be operational within 48 hours. The center will eventually have 2,910 beds. • Three facilities have been identified as COVID-19 only hospitals: South Beach Psychiatric Center in Staten Island (260 beds), Westchester Square in the Bronx (200 beds), and SUNY Downstate University Hospital in Brooklyn (250 beds). (CDC, 0754 ET 29 Mar) • Four sites for temporary hospitals identified -- Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, the Aqueduct Racetrack facility in Queens, CUNY Staten Island and the NY Expo Center in the Bronx – were approved today and would provide 4,000 beds. (CDC, 0754 ET 29 Mar) • Additional temporary hospital sites are being worked, including a 600-bed capacity nursing home facility in Brooklyn, and numerous floors of a high-rise building on Wall Street. (FEMA, 1051 ET 29 Mar) USNS COMFORT expected to arrive today and will berth at Pier 90 in Manhattan, approximately one mile away from the Javits Center. • COMFORT is equipped with 12 operating rooms, 1,000 hospital beds, a medical laboratory, a pharmacy, an optometry lab, digital radiology services, a CAT-scan, two oxygen producing plants, a helicopter deck and a crew of nearly 1,200 US military personnel. • The crew onboard will provide critically needed medical surge capacity caring for non-COVID-19 patients. Supplies delivered include 2,000 ventilators for the State and 2,400 ventilators for NYC. Purchase orders are being executed for the remaining portion of the 1,305 total trailers. (FEMA, 1051 ET 29 Mar) Additional support being sent to the state to increase state hospital capacity includes two 250-bed Federal Medical Stations and USACE support for assessment and evaluation of alternative care facilities. MI: Total Cases: 4,650; Deaths: 111; New Cases: 993; New Deaths: 19 (CDC, 0300 ET 29 Mar) • On Sunday, a senior state official in MI approved the TCF Center in Detroit to be used as an alternate care facility as the number of COVID-19 cases in MI continues to rise and local hospitals are running out of room. • The conversion of the convention center will be funded by FEMA and carried out by the USACE • The USACE says the convention center will hold 900 patient beds in individual pods along with space for medical personnel (Media, 2241 ET, 29 Mar)
