Introduction Nestled in between the snow-capped slopes of the Pir Panjal and the Dhauladhar ranges, Manali is one of the most popular hill stations in the country. With jaw-dropping views, lush green forests, sprawling meadows carpeted with flowers, gushing blue streams, a perpetual fairy-tale like mist lingering in the air, and a persistent fragrance of pines and freshness - Manali has been blessed with extraordinary scenic beauty. From museums to temples, from quaint little hippie villages to bustling upscale streets, river adventures to trekking trails, Manali has ever a reason to be the tourist magnet it is, all year round. Solang Valley is the of the most visited places in Manali, with the drive up to Solang being as picturesque as the valley itself. Not only does Solang Valley offer some breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, but its slopes are also a very popular skiing destination, especially during the winters. In summers, the place turns into a paragliding haven. If you're an adventure enthusiast, with more than 25 lakh visitors every year, Rohtang Pass easily stands out as one of the most popular scenic spots to visit in Manali. Connecting the Lahaul and Kullu valleys, the Rohtang Pass is famous among nature lovers, photographers and adventure seekers alike. Mountain biking or skiing whilst surrounded by the awe-inspiring glaciers and snow-capped peaks on all sides. The climate in Manali is predominantly cold during winter and moderately cool during summer. The temperatures ranges from −7 °C (19 °F) to 30 °C (86 °F) over the year. Monthly precipitation varies between 31 mm (1.2 in) in November and 217 mm (8.5 in) in July. On average, some 45 mm (1.8 in) of precipitation is received during winter and spring months, increasing to some 115 mm (4.5 in) in summer as the monsoon approaches. The average total annual precipitation is 1,363 mm (53.7 in). Manali experiences snowfall predominantly between December and beginning of March.

Need A well-synchronized and planned hill resort, which caters the modern amenities as per the requirement of the visitors, is a present need. It is based upon the eco-friendly, environment friendly to protect the local surroundings and environment. This proposed resort will be leisure resort with recreational activities, which could provide space for both internal and external tourist. We can find many resorts here and only few of which are fulfilling these needs. In addition, most of the resorts are oriented to limited service focusing only foreigners and paying very little attention to urban haves. This proposed hill resort could be the masterpiece of all resort that are functioning today and will approach to give it global identification.

Aim The aim is to familiarize with designs on sloping sites and to design resort and a spa on a hill which can show the nature and extent of spread and relationship of the built with the sensitive setting. Create an interactive ground for locals and visitors so that there may be interchange of ideas and cultural demonstration. Study about the materials and technology regarding the sustainability in design.

Objective Resorts offer their guests the opportunity of experiencing nature close up – either in the hotel’s own inviting gardens or in the outstanding natural beauty of the nearby countryside. Holidaying in hill Resorts equates with relaxation and feeling good. Special emphasis is placed on activities that reduce stress, promote health and ecological quality. Make analytical perfect of the functional requirements of resort and implement efficient design to carry out the functions smoothly. Resorts cooperate with nature conservation organizations, are involved in cultural and social projects and sensitize their staff in the destination country to environmental issues.

Limitation The project is concerned in built form so; there will be limited research and study on feasibility of project and detailed site suitability will not be analyzed. The project will not covers all the details related to green design incorporated, though research will be made and required level of detailing will be done to meet the architectural requirement. Detailed environment assessment will not be done due to limitation of knowledge in this field and it is not our primary focus, as the project is virtual.
