‘Leaving You Today’ from JTC’s JamBusters Series 1

JTC SAYS This ballad starts in G major, and you can either use the full major scale (G A B C D E F#) or the major pentatonic (G A B D E) for you solo. The B7 is the pivot (via a V7-I change) for the key change to E minor. You don’t really need a whole new scale, but try landing on a D# note for the B7. When the E minor section starts, you can use the same scales as before, but they now function as E Aeolian and E minor pentatonic (same notes, but rooted on E). Lastly, be careful of the final chord which shift to an E major chord for a bit of a twist. Scroll down for the chord chart.
